The 5 Income Streams that Fuel My Business

Plus, a Sneak Peak Inside One Income Stream

Thanks to Magnet.me @magnetme for making this photo available freely on Unsplash 🎁

Multiple income streams is the name of the game. It’s one of the fastest ways to become a millionaire and build wealth quickly.

Mix passive and active income streams to multiply your earnings like crazy. And when you’re retired, the work you do now can hopefully sustain your lifestyle with 100% passive income.

Here’s a look at 5 income streams that fuel my business…

My 5 Income Streams

They are:

  1. Writing
  2. Brand deals
  3. Client work
  4. Digital products
  5. Miscellaneous income

Income stream #1: Writing income

This includes all the income I make from writing. I’ve been writing for more than 10 years.

It’s something I’ve always been drawn to, even in adolescence. Something about writing what you’re thinking and expressing your thoughts down on paper. I love it!

My writing income is active income. I write and I make money. If I don’t write then I don’t earn income.

Currently I write around 15 hours/month.

Income stream #2: Brand deals

Brand deals is something I talk about often on Medium.

It’s about working with companies and sharing them with your audience for compensation. You get to test and try out some cool products.

I just negotiated a deal for a $400 adjustable ergonomic desk that I’ll be getting next week!

For brand deal income I get reached out to by companies and agencies plus, I pitch. I work a handful of hours per month (under 3 hours/month) to make income from brand deals.

This is my brand deal course and for more on this, read these:

Income stream #3: Client work

Client work is another active income stream. I work with clients for various projects and I get paid on my work and performance.

This can include anything from social media management to graphic design, website building, etc.

You can find clients in a bunch of places. I used to be on social media all day, searching for inquiries from clients that posed about needing help. I do it in a smarter way now.

These websites:

If you list your skills and work info in your social media bio, you can get client leads that way, too. I’ve gotten leads from Instagram and Linkedin and I’m not even very active on either platform.

I spend between 5–20 hours/month on this, depending on the project.

Income stream #4: Digital products

Digital products are passive income.

I spend some time in the beginning creating the product, then plug it up to a platform that manages my payments and distribution and that’s it!

You can also connect marketing to amplify your income even more.

Some websites you can use for selling your digital products include:

Examples of digital products to sell are:

  • Ebooks
  • E-courses
  • Templates
  • Templates
  • Checklists
  • Digital planners
  • Worksheets

This is one of the best ways to grow your wealth. I saw a Tik Tok video last week from a course creator who make $300K/month!

There’s definitely a lot of money in the online learning industry.

Income stream #5: Misc. income

These are miscellaneous income sources that I group into this category like affiliate marketing income, website flipping projects, etc.

More income streams?

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

You can also make money from other income streams like dividends, making money sitting on a board of directors, e-commerce, etc.

Explore as many income streams as you’re interested in.

Revealing one of my income streams

I usually share this only with paid members of my Substack but, I thought I’d pull the curtain back on my writing income which includes income from writing clients, Medium, News Break and other related sources.

I make between $6,000 to $8,000/month from writing income.

My goal is to up this to $15,000/month.

It took a long time to get here but I’ve seen new writers go from zero to $4K per month as a beginner and seasoned writers make $10K+ per month.

How do you pick income streams for yourself?

Don’t burn yourself out and spread yourself too thin going for a bunch of different income streams.

Rather than trying a bunch of different things at once, you can consider trying one thing, mastering it, then moving onto the next.

For example, creating digital products for passive income, then moving onto brand deal income or pursuing investments for dividend income, etc.

Don’t be afraid to try new things or experiment and remember, I am not a financial advisor and this is not financial advice.

Also, note: affiliate links are included in this article which means if you click a link and buy, I’ll earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Which income streams are you making money with or plan on starting in the future?
