I Know You Are Getting No Views But Your Stories Are Not The Issue.
Why you are maybe the new Eve Arnold
Sometimes I get dozens of comments under my posts about how people are struggling to find their audience.
I recently got this comment from Ross Stringer who said is writing for months on Medium but his work doesn’t get low views or no views at all.
After reading a couple of his stories I found out quality content. But low engagement.
I know that a lot of you are in the same situation. Looking at people who are getting thousands of followers and high engagement can lead to this thinking :
“I’m doing something wrong, my content is not worth the shot, etc…”
Wrong.
Your Writing Is Not The Issue.
I’ll take a popular example of dedication and hard work: Eve Arnold.
If you think: I’m writing for weeks without getting noticed.
Take a look at this.
I went back to the very beginning of her profile to find her first story. (It took quite a long time by the way. My Mac even started glitching haha…)
These are the public stats for her first story :
Then, here are the stats for her story 6 months later :
She’s got 3 comments and 154 claps which is not much for 6 months of work writing every single day.
Now you know what? She’s one of the most popular writers on Medium with a +75k audience and she is making 6 figures a month working 9-to-5.
As I’m reading a lot of her stories I know her writing changed a little, so her stories were good at the very beginning but that’s a part of the game.
Be consistent and you will succeed.
If you have not views maybe you’ll blow up later and surpass everyone becoming the new “Eve Arnold”?

The Randomness of Medium Algorithm
The Medium Algorithm is random. Sometimes it will promote your story like hell but sometimes it will just shut it down.
Unless you have a dedicated audience you will struggle to get views/reads at the beginning.
As I said before that’s not about you or your writing.
This time I’ll take an example of mine.
I wrote a story a month ago. In the beginning, it got a few claps and low engagement. After a couple of weeks :
It started getting noticed…
…and get the stratosphere.
I also thought like you are doing maybe: “This kind of story is not engaging I should change something”
It can be the case but most of the time, you are just not getting your stories to the audience so they can’t read it…
