I Got Over 160 Followers in my Second Week on Medium — This is How Much I Earned

How soon can you start earning money blogging?

Writing is one of the things I’m very passionate about, and I decided “Hey if it’s something you enjoy doing so much, why don’t you start a blog and earn some extra money on the side?” I honestly didn’t expect to be accepted into the Medium Partner Program so quickly since they raised the threshold to 100 followers, but not even 11 days and nine blogs later I’ve reached 133% of my goal that I set to achieve within the first month. Here’s how I did it.

I published articles nearly every day

As part of my one-month goal, I decided to try to write an article every single day. Nine articles in 11 days means I missed on average two days without an article, and within the first week, I had already failed. But really, did I fail? Sure, I didn’t write an article every single day, but I reached 100 followers about 3 weeks earlier than I originally expected. That sounds like a major win to me!

One of my articles was curated

A day or two after I hit the 100 mark, my “How do I have White Privilege?” article was distributed by curators. Shortly after, I got a sharp increase in views and follows, having at least 10 more followers each day. It also happens to be my highest-earning article, with $0.63 out of my total $0.84 earnings.
