I Finally Made the $100 Club in August (And Here’s What I Learned)!
It’s possible to join the $100 club with hard work and consistency.
After writing 371 stories in 8 months, I made the $100 club.
I could not be happier with my August earnings. Since the beginning of January 2022, I wrote every single day. My income steadily increased each month, but I never earned over $100 until August. Over these 8 months, I’ve tested several strategies and experimented with different ideas to find an action plan that would help me garner more success on Medium.
In August, I decided to track my daily story earnings. Along with the other strategies I tested out, here is what I discovered.
Here is What Positively Impacted My Stats
✅ Deliver stories of value or providing information My niche is travel, writing, self-improvement, and mental health. Many of my stories had mediocre stats. The ones that stood out were the ones where I provided factual and useful takeaways for my followers.
✅ Engage with other writers I ran out of steam a little during the last few days of August. See how my views went down. Engagement is crucial.
✅ Be consistently active on the platform by publishing stories, commenting, clapping, highlighting, following, and sharing Being active on Medium is more important than you think. If you disappear from the platform for a prolonged period of time, your stats will take a quick and sharp dive.
These Made No Difference For Me
✅ What day or time I published I previously tracked the days and times I posted stories. Then I stopped it altogether because it didn’t matter what day I published.
Published on Sunday with 143 views and 62 reads.
Published on Monday with 163 views and 62 reads.
✅ Not publishing for a day or two during the month I skipped a day during August, just to see what would happen. Nothing happened. In fact, I earned $4.74 on that day. That’s not bad at all!
✅ The number of different publications you publish stories with For August, I published with 5 different pubs, including self-publishing. In July, I went with 7 pubs. If I go back to June, I had published with 10 pubs. Based on the results of these few months, I actually earned more when I published with fewer pubs.
When you publish with fewer pubs, people might come to know your name a little better because they keep seeing your stories. It’s a good move for building your community.
Tracking my daily earnings was a great idea. I need to thank The Octogig for inspiring me to do this. The details gave me plenty of insight and now I can further refine my game plan for more success on the platform.

August 31 $107.69I’m very grateful for what I’ve been able to accomplish so far on Medium. It’s been a truly fantastic ride so far and I’m so happy about how everything is coming along. I’ll admit that it has been a lot of hard work in the past few months, but it has certainly paid off.
I have yet to celebrate my one year anniversary. It’s exciting to see what autumn will bring for Medium. There are so many updates to the platform and I am eager to find out if the summer slump will be gone in the next few weeks. Let’s keep writing and supporting each other!
