I Earned Over $300 by Talking on Discord
How can you make money doing the same?
I recently published an article on how I did freelance work to make money, and several people were confused why being active on Discord servers was my most-popular gig. And honestly, I was too at first. Here’s how I’ve capitalized on it.
I’ve had 20 total orders since the beginning of August, and I’m working on six of those right now. The 14 orders I completed earned me $165, and the six I’m working on are expected to earn me $176. You may ask “why will 6 orders make you more than 14?” and that’s because for a long time I was doing orders for much less than I should have. $5 for one week of activity is not nearly enough to be worth my time.
And also, one of my current orders is for moderating a Discord server for 30 days for $100.
Why… do people want to pay that much money for you to do something as simple as sending messages to others on Discord?
I wondered the same thing at first, but after doing it for a few months I’ve gotten to know some of my clients pretty well. The reason they’re willing to pay me is because most of them are making money off of their Discord servers. I’ve had clients who own NFTs, games on steam, YouTube channels, etc., and the simple answer is that they need someone to keep their community engaged so that they can worry about producing content and making money.
What do you even do on their servers?
It all depends. Usually I engage other users, increase the amount of activity on the server, and hype up any upcoming events. On the server I’m moderating right now, there are 700 users, but very few of them talk. That’s where I come in. I’ve decided to host a few events like giveaways and game nights to get them excited.
When a client decides to order, I usually talk to them about their expectations for the gig and what they want to get out of it. Then we can talk about what I can do to make the most out of my time on their server.
How many servers are you able to handle at one time?
This is a difficult question that I ask myself all the time. It’s a balance: I have to have enough orders to make money, but I can’t take on too many or else my clients won’t get the attention they deserve. When I start to feel overwhelmed with the number of servers I’m on, I just bump up my prices on Fiverr. That way, less people will be inclined to purchase, giving me more time to finish the orders I’m on right now, and if clients do decide to order, at least I’m getting paid more for my stress.

Discord and other social media management is clearly an untapped market.
I expected these gigs to be my least-popular ones, but I’ve only had four out of 20 total orders on Fiverr be something else. It took a few months to start getting a ton of orders, but if you’re looking for some extra cash, you should definitely give it a try.
