I Discovered The 8 Simple Tools On How To Forgive
Now I am revealing how you too can find forgiveness
(Not a Medium member? Read this story for free here.)
One of the most debated subjects around the world is forgiveness.
Somebody does something wrong, either against an individual or against society.
To forgive means to pardon the accused with no resentment left.
If forgiveness is complete, the act of offense is totally forgotten, as if it never took place.
Forgiveness is not a cure-all to be sure
Although it won’t make your life the way it was — it can make the future better!
The 8 tools I have discovered are shared with you below. They will help you — as it has helped me to forgive those actions that have caused stress in your life and have caused damage to your relationships with others.
The 8 tools
· Forgiveness is a healthy choice.
Holding on to hate can be very draining and toxic in your everyday life.
Your vulnerability to physical and mental illness can be significantly elevated.
If you let go and Let God — as they say — you will be free to enjoy your relationships and your life.
· Sincere remorse is a sign that forgiveness may be appropriate.
If the transgressor is open to sincerely and authentically work through the problem with you, trust can be rebuilt!
· Forgive yourself first.
I have found that some folks cannot forgive themselves for their transgressions.
Possibly the memory serves to prevent them from repeating their mistakes.
I discovered that when I am on the path to truly become a better person, and understand that my personal pain is a part of my journey — then self-forgiveness manifests in time!
· Forgiveness is hard work.
It must be earned — which requires accepting responsibility, understanding why the violation has occurred, and most importantly — listening to “the small voice within”.
This does take time, AND a desire on your part and the other party to truly want to heal!
· To err is human.
All of us make mistakes.
Sometimes big ones!
It’s important to remember this — when someone unintentionally hurts you.
Doing this will help you to keep your balance — very important!
· Revenge is very expensive.
Did you know that some folks spend their entire life trying to make a transgressor pay?
I have seen this happen where the negative energy can ruin families and future relationships!
If this sounds like you — stop it now.
Take a serious look and see how it is affecting those whom you love!
· Let bygones be bygones.
Do not — repeat DO NOT bring up the past when you think that you need an advantage!
The result? This behavior will guarantee that you will NOT truly forgive AND it will make the foundation of your relationship toxic and unstable!
· It’s NOT your fault!
Some folks blame themselves for bad things that someone else has “done them wrong”.
Why is this?
The truth is that this belief arises from a feeling of low self-esteem — and THAT is where the healing needs to be focused.
Conclusion and The Takeaway
If you and your partner truly have the desire — both of you can work through the pain and make things better!
True forgiveness is much akin to true love — remember that it takes two people to make this happen!
