I Am The Storm

I wreak havoc in my wake…

The powers that be have undone my constraints, and I am free to bluster and blow. I unleash chaos in my wake. Winter is the only time of year that I am free to reach my true potential.

I see happy couples strolling and I wreak havoc upon them. For it has been made perfectly clear that I will never have that again. And, my bitterness grows each year.

This is all I am now, the prelude to a winter wonderland.

I prepare the landscape that brings everyone but myself holiday cheer.

Then they put me back into my chains.

This prompt is from Writing Prompts as the Seasons Turn (Idea 6) by JF Danskin in The Fiction Writer’s Den.

Write a flash fiction story from the perspective of a wintry storm. How does it feel about the destruction it is unleashing, and what changes in its aftermath?

Thank you for reading my drabble. I’d love to hear your responses.
