Light Years Apart
The distance didn’t matter…
The distance isn’t what mattered. They were light years apart and they still managed to make it work. They talked every day on their videocams. Evan would keep Rachel updated on all of the craziness at home, and she would describe all of the amazing planets and beings she’d encountered on her travels.
But the calls became less frequent, and Rachel had less and less to say. Something had changed. It wasn’t anything specific, it was her entire demeanor. And then late one night, frustrated, Evan called her. She answered and said only five words.
“There is no Rachel here.”
This experiment is done by Grim Flandango. Every day he generates a random word, and I generate a drabble (100 word story). The word today is DISTANCE.
