How We Receive Shapes How We Reject
Day 6 of a 10-day poetry challenge

I didn’t know the art of receiving and rejection. Many rejections shaped how I receive. Many receiving shaped how I reject. When a friend buys me dinner, I receive it with heartfelt gratitude. We all feel splendid. Because it is the time well spent at the moment that we both enjoy.
When a friend offers me a margarita, I reject it with heartfelt grace. I opted for a non-alcoholic drink. Because it is a mutual respect that brings us closer, not the drink.
P.S. I just do not like the taste of margarita. Don’t ask me why. LOL.
To read day 5’s poem:
Have you read my first opposing views collaborative prompt essay on KTHT yet?
My task was to write on the topic of “A False Belief Can Destroy The World”
A beautiful and raw poem by fellow TBIN’s writer Dennett on her journey in releasing shame:
I was in my late 40s when I walked away from my father and his disapproval. Still, it took years before I could easily and openly admit to a mistake — until I learned to say I’m sorry with sincerity — until I learned that mistakes can be beautiful gifts — until I learned that I don’t have to carry shame like a heavy backpack.
Starting Nov 13, join me on a 10-day poetic journey from KTHT poetry challenge #3 to beat the writer’s block, or simply give yourself “excuses” to write more.
