How To Use Twitter To Benefit Your Writing
Some tips to help you reach a bigger audience
Do you want to get more readers? Or if you are on the Medium Partner Program, you can also earn money by getting new readers to sign up and become a member.
One way to do this is to use Twitter as a way to send out your articles to a potentially bigger audience.
Personally, many of my articles have been posted on the Twitter site and I received positive feedback. Many of my articles have also been retweeted.
To get started, start by creating an account and following people in your industry or niche.
You can also tweet about your latest articles and other timely topics.
To get more followers, be sure to retweet and engage with other followers.
The best thing about Twitter is that it is available night and day, and you can reach people anytime.
My best strategy is to use hashtags related to the writing niche, and Twitter will often say how many times this hashtag was used.
As of this writing, what’s trending right now is the singer Prince, Madonna, Mathew McConaughey, and Apple.
Another reason to get on Twitter is that sometimes, Twitter users may post job leads for writers. Today, one Twitter user in the freelance niche posted out a job for writers paying $800 for monthly blog posts.
Another time I managed to snag a contest prize for a potato chip company on Twitter!
So if you have an article that you think would be popular with the general public, send out a free Tweet.
I recently wrote a father’s day article for Medium and promoted the article using Twitter.
As writers, if we want to get more readers, we cannot always be quiet. Publicity, especially free marketing tools, is useful for getting a bigger audience.
I started a shop on Gumroad recently, and am selling a few products, including a “Thank you Template.” These are useful for business owners to send out to customers after the job is done. I also think it would be great to have customers pay what they want for this product, as a way to attract new customers. You can see my product here.
Some marketers suggest posting on a regular basis on Twitter to have more people exposed to your product or writing.
Another benefit is that the more posts you do, the likelier you will get new followers. I have definitely increased my followers, and when I had a travel blog, I even got Yoko Ono to follow me!
