How To Turn Your Blog Into A Business?

A guide for beginners to treat their blog as a business.

There are bloggers on the Internet that generates over half a million dollars through writing on their blog.

Writing online is a privilege and you can make a very good amount of money writing on your own blog. Obviously, writing on Medium is like having a blog, and you can make money writing on Medium too.

I am blogging on WordPress for over 4 years and have made over $30K as a student living in an under-developing country. There is a trend online that the more content you produce, the more money you will make. That’s why you need to create more content. Bloggers have been making money online for a very long time. It was quite a lucrative business back then.

It takes time

You can’t be a millionaire in one night. Think about the Zoom app. Zoom was created in 2012 but it was due to Corona-Virus that makes this app a billion dollars worth business. It takes time and patience to make money from your blog.

But, some bloggers are making the mistake of just not being patient and hard-working, not realizing the mistake they are making. Some bloggers don’t build a community around their blog while others miss other great opportunities that could generate them more traffic.

It could take you 3 to 5 years for getting successful in Blogging. Don’t make your blog your main-business until it is generating you more money than the full-time job you are doing.

Make your blog a brand:

Branding is everything in business. Some businesses will happy to lose millions of dollars rather than having a bad image in society. You may never get sponsors if your content is thin and very few people in the industry you work in know about your blog.

Building a brand out of your blog could costs you money but in the end, it is worth it. You could get $500 per sponsor post and this is what makes it worthwhile.

Most of the blogs that are generating over $40,000+ a month are using two ways to make money — from affiliate marketing and sponsor posts. These bloggers use affiliate products that pay high commission while cost lower amount from the customers, like selling blog hosting packages. Treat your blog as a business and articles as a product:

I got this idea of treating your articles as a unique product from a Tweet. If you have to create a world-class product, what features and qualities you add to make it the best product available in that niche?

Thinking that way changes the way I look into things, especially on Medium.

Your blog is your business. Make it better every day, add more articles, and be consistent for some years and it will bear fruits for a very long time. The concept of compounding interest applies here.
