How to get your first 100 followers on Medium without begging?
Your exclusive blueprint to get 100 followers on Medium

Follow for Follow!
Please follow me…
I’ll return the favor. Please follow me…
Enough is enough! Why are you begging people to follow you?
If you landed on this post, chances are you want to get your first 100 followers on Medium.
As a fellow writer, I can tell you that it’s not easy to get noticed when millions of people write every day. So here’s what I did when I wanted more followers:
1) I Followed people who had a lot of followers
It’s really that simple! I’m not kidding; it worked like a charm for me.
And the great thing about Medium is that you can see how many people someone has following them.
So if you follow someone and they don’t follow you back, don’t unfollow them. Please have patience; they will!
2) Comment on writer’s blogs
This is a great way to start a conversation with someone and even get them to follow you back.
But don’t just leave a generic comment like “nice post!” Be genuine and add value to the conversation.
This is a great way to show that you’re not just here to promote yourself.
And it also gives people a reason to check out your profile and maybe follow you.
3) Write quality content not sloppy content!
This one is obvious, but it’s still worth mentioning. If you want to get more followers, you really need to be posting quality content.
This is the only way people will actually enjoy reading your posts and want others to read them too!
So, I clearly don’t want you to post stuff like:
- How to fry an egg?
- How to boil spaghetti?
Write blogs that add value. Please don’t write just for the sake of writing it. Do the research and write about something that matters.
If you are confused about what to write, I suggest you search for trending topics. I’m sure you will find a lot of things to write about.
4) Don’t make a wall of text
This is my pet peeve. Please break up your paragraphs and make them easier to read.
Nobody wants to read a wall of text, especially not on Medium! I suggest you use headings and subheadings to organize your thoughts.

5) Try to be personal
People love stories, and they love to know who the writer is. So try to add a little bit of yourself in your posts.
But don’t go too far.
Don’t start your post with, “Hey guys, I’m here to tell you my story…”
Be concise and try not to ramble on about totally irrelevant or unnecessary things.
I love storytelling. In fact, I’m a big fan of it. And if you are, too, I suggest you use this art in your blog post.
I promise it will work for you too!
6) Your Headline should be attention-grabbing
This is something I think most people forget about. Many bloggers make the mistake of just writing “My Experience with Medium” or “My First Blog Post on Medium.”
People don’t want to read about your experience. They want to know what is in it for them! So, try coming up with a better headline and add value right away when people see your blog post. I promise you’ll get more followers if they think that’s what they are looking for!
So, that’s what you need to do if you want more followers on Medium.
7) Use a good preview image
I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but make a good impression and grab people’s attention.
And the best way to do that is by using an eye-catching preview image of your blog post.
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy! Just use something relevant to what you are writing about.
8) Write for publications
Medium publications is a great place to get your post noticed. Not only will you be seen by thousands of people, but also the editors can help with sharing it on their social media profiles!

I wrote for an amazing publication “Better Humans” and received the perks. The Editor recommended my story to Medium.
Oh yes! It was like a dream come true. (I had my fan moment) 🥰 🥰 🥰
9) Don’t beg for followers
I cannot stress this enough. Please don’t beg for followers.
It’s really unattractive, and it makes you look desperate.
What’s the point of going to different groups and asking for followers?
You’ll get nothing from followers who are just doing you a favor because they won’t be interested in what you write.
Instead, try working on your content first and then promoting it through the groups. You’ll see much better results this way!
And I’m sure after reading my thoughts, you don’t want to beg for followers … 😉
Do not forget to share this post with others who may find it useful.
Be patient, follow people who have a lot of followers, comment on other people’s blogs, and write quality content!
10) Use relevant tags while posting your blog
This is another way to make sure people can find your blog post.
Make sure you use the right tags so that people who are interested in the topic can find it!
I made a mistake of using the wrong tags, and my friend pointed them out in no time.
Oh, he loves to criticize me. Am I right “Yousuf?” 😉

Jokes apart, learn from my mistake, and use correct hashtags.
To understand the game of tags, look at other bloggers’ content. Note down what hashtags they use.
This is a great way to find new and trending hashtags related to your topic.
