Getting What You Want
Three Ways SNAP Out of Negativity

They say “Just think positively and you’ll get what you want.” Sadly that doesn’t work for most people. Getting what you want isn’t as much about thinking as it is feeling, moving, and releasing negative thoughts.
Remember The Secret?
Several years ago The Secret was the hottest book in the self-improvement market. Just think about what you want and miraculously it will manifest. And to be sure, for folks whose hearts, feelings, beliefs, conscious and unconscious thoughts were in line, The Secret worked.
But It’s No Secret that The Secret Didn’t Work for Lots of Folks.
Thoughts alone often do not create reality! Despite how you’ve interpreted what you’ve read in the Bible, despite what spiritual teachers for centuries have been saying, despite what you read on Facebook, manifesting is more complicated than thinking positive thoughts.
It is true, however, that you do create your reality. It just takes more than positive thinking.
Your reality comes from your conscious thoughts, your unconscious thoughts, your feelings, such esoteric things as your energy system (meridians and chakras), and even your cellular memory (which scientists have recently discovered).
Despite what they told us in school, unconscious thoughts are more powerful than conscious thoughts.
So let’s say, you’d like to earn more money writing on Medium. (Me too.) And you think about this consistently and in a positive way. However, unconsciously you believe you don’t deserve to earn lots of money.
Some adoptees, for example, often feel they don’t deserve money, a nice car, even to live. Why? Their unconscious remembers that their birth mother rejected them. So the baby-self says “Well, if I didn’t deserve to be kept by mother, I guess I’m not deserving.” (Baby-selves don’t understand why a mother might choose adoption for her baby.)
So a more positive thought than “I am earning $500 this month writing for Medium” might be “I deserve to make $500 this month writing for Medium. (Put in whatever figure is a realistic goal for the month. If you made $2.78 last month on Medium, making $5,000 this month is probably unrealistic.
So How Do You Get the Pieces in Sync to Get What You Want?
- Think about your desire. Make sure your desire fits your beliefs. You may be able to imagine bringing in $10,000 a month but you can’t really imagine bringing in $100,000 a month. Is that possible? Of course, but unlikely simply because it doesn’t seem real to you. And your unconscious brain is probably screaming “Surely, you’re joking!”
2. Feel your desire. Feelings aren’t thoughts. Feelings live in your body. And the best way to get positive feelings in your body is moving.
Start with smiling. It’s a simple movement you can do sitting at your desk, but it profoundly changes your brain pattern. And smiling makes you feel better.
Here’s how it works: Let’s say you’re repeating several times a day: “I deserve to make $500 this month writing for Medium.” (Or whatever amount you choose.) And while you’re repeating this new mantra, you’re frowning. That frown has more power than your thoughts and words.
Listen to your favorite upbeat song and dance or skip or walk while you focus on what you want to manifest. These simple, fun movements help you get in the flow of your desire. And don’t forget to smile while you’re doing them.
3. Change your energy. Holding or tapping certain points on your body gets your energy system to line up with your thoughts. When you find yourself backing away from your desire from fear or feeling unworthy, panic, or doubt, just “SNAP.”
How to SNAP
When a negative thought comes up, close your eyes, place your fingertips very lightly above your eyebrows, and focus on the negative thought or feeling.

As you keep focusing, you’ll find the negative thought disappears. You may have a hard time focusing on the negative thought. Or you may sense that it’s floating away. That the negative thought isn’t there anymore.
You’ve just “snapped” right out of negativity. (You’re holding acupuncture points and using acupressure which is acupuncture without needles.)
These neurovascular holding points, part of your energy system, act quickly and powerfully. Only takes a minute, so it’s easy to do this several times a day when fear or doubt pops up.
Manifesting Your Desire
If you really want what you want, remember to think about it, being aware of what you might be thinking unconsciously.
Then move by smiling, dancing, skipping, or walking while focusing on your desire. You can hop. You can jump. Just move.
And when a negative thought pops up — and it will — don’t forget to SNAP right out of it.
