How To Get The Most Out Of Writing Daily.

It depends on what we are after. Some of us write to earn. Others write to seek an audience. And there are those who write because they write. Our ability to get the most out of writing depends on what we seek.

I have been writing daily since August 2020. 4 months have passed. I read many stories as a subscribed member of Medium, and I learned a lot from all contributors. My perspectives widened due to the diversity of content I am exposed to.

My daily writing is a synthesis of what I read. It is a combination of reflection and improvement.

This is how I think about my writing journey. I have been able to get the most out of writing daily by anchoring new lessons in my mind.

As people say, writing things down does magic.

And the more I write, the clearer ideas become. We know it when we come across a brand-new perspective. We cannot quite wrap our arms around them. Writing them down in our own words brings immense clarity.

It might not be the actual intent of the author. What is important is the utility of the message and our takeaway. What can we learn from it?

At the same time, writing daily taught me time-management and discipline.

I struggled a lot when I started in August 2020. I might be a professional copywriter, but this is a whole new World. Lean paragraphs matter when it comes to copywriting. It builds a frictionless reading experience for the readers.

It is a well-lubricated sales funnel in print.

Here, proper writing is highly valued. A debate over styles of writing is irrelevant. Different styles of writing can co-exist within the same discipline. After all, they serve a different purpose.

I learned a lot about a writing Universe that is parallel to the one I am living in. It created a lot of discomfort at the beginning. Good on Earth and Bad on Mars is absolutely possible. Perspective counts.

To learn, I had to create a habit for daily writing. I carved out an hour a day to support this habit.

I got the most out of daily writing by unlearning what I am used to for copywriting. I had to learn how to write in proper paragraphs again. It brought me a huge dose of humility.

I know that are many on Medium to earn. It is the same for me. Earnings have not bothered me to date because I know I have just started my journey here. I can earn some pocket money as I learn.

In some sense, this is like an old-school apprentice model. You know, being paid a token sum for helping to spray paint on wooden furniture?

I will get there one day. There is no way around writing more to get there. Learning-on-the-job is like an addiction. The more I write, the more I have to write. It takes time to be better before becoming good.

The edges of my ambition here are filed from a sharp one to a rounded one. I adjust my targets and goals based on practicality. Being rounded is about accepting the need for time and effort to do its magic.

We get the most out of reading through writing. We get the most out of writing through writing. Plus, reflecting. And … revisiting old writing pieces.

Do you revisit your older stories?

I did.

I re-read them because I wanted to revive them through the use of Medium’s Short Form feature. Okay, look. I am not too proud of what I wrote 4 months ago.

At the same time, looking back shows me how far I have come. This is like going to the gym. The 1st, 2nd training session generates an immediate result that is next to nothing. If we stick our heads out for months and years, we build a powerful body.

This is how I think about writing daily.

We improve when we commit to a routine. When we write daily, we have a shot at improving daily. Sure, there will be negligible improvements day on day.

Just like Lego bricks, every little brick stacks up.

The day will come when we can finally see the Optimus Prime taking shape by piling on one brick at a time.

That is the result when we write daily.

That is how we can get the most out of writing daily.

Writing Daily Accelerates Our Progress.
