SELF-IMPROVEMENT #ILLUMINATION
How to Challenge Yourself to be More
The subtle art of self-reflection
I found an easy way to make money.
Medium has readers who pay to read your content. I know, because I am one of them. I like to write. I’ll just start writing and post it on Medium. People will read, and I’ll make money. This is easy peasy. So I thought.
People were earning four and five figures a month, and I had read their stories. I can do better, at the worst, at least as good as them. One author said that all you need is to have done something unusual like him. He moved to the Philippines and lived a nomadic life.
Heck, I walked more than 2,500 miles cross-country at the ripe old age of 62. I am sure that qualifies.
I read everything I can get my hands on, err, click. One successful mid-four-figure earner had a logical game plan laid out. To her credit, it is a solid two-year business plan you can use to build up to $2k per month, even if you are just starting.
I was ready to write for six months and hit the trail again. Once I have enough money coming in to cover the few expenses I will have on the road; I’ll be all set. I can walk around the country and write about my adventures and get paid for it. I had hit the proverbial jackpot.
“A desire to do it is proof that you have within you the power which can do it.” ~Wallace D Wattles
What I didn’t realize was that the power within me had not yet manifested. It is one thing to have the power, and altogether another thing to be able to use it. I was like the school teacher in The Greatest American Hero, who was given the suit by the aliens but didn’t know how to use it.
If you want to earn more, you must provide more value. To provide more value, you must first become more capable. That meant not only becoming a better writer but learning about marketing your work.
Marketing? Ugh!
It also means facing your inner demons to overcome your fear of success.
It’s going to be a long journey. They say when a student is ready, the teacher will appear.
My teacher showed up in the form of an invitation from Dr. Mehmet Yildiz to join the ILLUMINATION community. It is easier to accomplish more when you can stand on the shoulders of giants.
My journey of Self-improvement has taken a new turn, and I am looking forward with excitement. I have already made connections with some fantastic people, such as Henery X (long) Simran Kankas Tom Byers Joel Eisenberg Salam Khan Chris Hedges Priyanka Srivastava Pierre Trudel Helen Cassidy Page Sherry McGuinn Remington Write Sam H Arnold
Day 2 of the 30-day challenge to write on the same theme. I have chosen Self Improvement as my theme.
As always, thank you for reading.
