How the “Law of 3” & the “Third Perspective” Make Our 3D World
[Updated July 19, 2021] We dissect our reality into 3 to find the “Third Perspective” that will take us beyond the duality of life.

A video popped up on my YouTube account recently about the Law of 3 (from Gaia TV, link #(2) at the end of this article). That “law” states that for something to exist physically in our 3rd Dimensional (3D) reality, it must have the dimensions of Width, Height, and Depth (space), and it needs a Past, Present, and Future (time). Nothing can physically exist in 3D without these two sets of 3.
Non-physical things can exist in our 3D reality without Width, Height, and Depth. But they still need a Past, Present, and Future. Non-physical things include thoughts, emotions, ideas, and words, as well as ghosts, spirits, angels, and other non-physical beings.
The next day, a Matias De Stefano video appeared in which he mentioned the Holy Trinity of reality (link #(3) at the end of this article). That is how we humans make sense of our 3D existence in different ways through sets of 3 things. Examples he gave included Spirit-Soul-Body, Vibration-Energy-Matter, and Wisdom-Will-Love.
Those two videos got me thinking about other trinities we use to navigate and understand our reality. 22 of these trinities in the table below (the first 9 are based on the two videos I saw):

A few other 3s that I have come across since creating that table are:
- 3D Experience: Time, Movement/Change, Space
- Ourselves: Physical, Mental, Spiritual
- Our Awareness: Conscious, Subconscious, Superconscious
- The World: Mineral, Plant, Animal
- Nondualism: I/Self/Ego, Nonduality/No thing, Other/Not Self

The “Third Perspective”
I could add many other trinities to this list. The majority are dualities with opposing meanings, with a third element representing a middle or beyond perspective. I have tried to put that third element in the middle column of the table above.
That middle column may be the most interesting revelation from this exercise. It is a fascinating mix of concepts, including:
- Depth, Present/Now, Here, Between, Beyond, Soul, Tao/Middle Way, Love, Equilibrium, Equanimity, Heart, Awareness, Nonduality/No Thing.
- But also Humans, Ego, Movement/Change, and the 3rd/4th Dimensions.
In his video, Matias calls that middle the “Third Perspective”. The First Perspective is that of Source/God/The Absolute and is the view from the 1st Dimension. The Second Perspective is Source creating a mirror of itself so it can know itself. That is the 2nd Dimension of duality.
The Third Perspective is when Source creates a view that can look back at the duality. This is the 3rd Dimension and the middle column in the table is one way to understand the Third Perspective.
For a fuller understanding of Matias De Stefano’s approach to the Spiritual Dimensions of Reality, see:
The “Third Perspective” is the Spiritual Perspective
The Third Perspective is the Middle Path toward balance in our personal lives and for our planet. It is what we need to move from the roller-coaster ride of emotions, politics, and environmental disasters. These plague our lives and planet — at least if you follow world news.
The Third Perspective is also that which is beyond all perspectives and all dualisms. Some call it “nonduality”, but even that has an opposite in “duality”. Thus, it is really beyond description. Some Radical Nonduality (Neo-Advaita) speakers say it is the pure awareness that is always present but can never be known through words, thoughts, or experiences.
For more on Radical Nonduality, see…
All three columns are necessary to understand our reality. All three columns will always be how we experience the 3rd Dimension. All three columns are relevant and good, there are no moral judgments (good vs. bad) between them. That is important to realize.
Living by the middle column, the Third Perspective, is how we can best see the totality of life. Everything is part of the original oneness of Source. And everything contributes to that totality in its own way.

Expanding the Trinities
Adding to the list of Trinities in the table above is a good way to help your thinking mind better understand the Middle Path/Third Perspective.
To do that, start by creating a list of dualities — things that you consider the opposite of one another. (If you want some help with that, I found this very long list of dualities on a coaching website called Master of the Universe.)
For each duality you come up with, find what you believe to be the “Third Perspective”. That is the easy part. There is always a Third Perspective.
Now, learn to be the Third Perspective. That is the harder part, though it does become easier with time.

The foundation of that Law of Three relates closely to what I have discussed above. They are especially similar to the 3 Gunas in Hinduism in my table above. 1. Affirming (active force or principle) 2. Denying (receptive principle) 3. Reconciling (neutral force or principle) — I have added these to the table above. — Also see his article:
