How Much Money I Earned in 2021 From Medium
A journey from earning $2.12 a month to $34.71 a month
If you read my stories, you may have also seen my income reports that I publish every month like many other writers out there on Medium. You may have seen many writers sharing their monthly income reports. But as you know, 2021 has just ended, and writers are ready to share their yearly income reports. And that’s the reason I am here to share with you my income report for 2021.
It will be a yearly income report but let me tell you one thing. I have just started writing on Medium just four months ago.
I have officially started writing on Medium in July of 2020. But after writing two stories, I left Medium for a whole year and started writing again in September of 2021.
But I am mentioning it as a yearly income report because my two old stories have constantly been making me money the whole year. It was some cents here and there, but it also counts as the earnings of 2021.
So let’s get into the income report;

You can clearly see in the above screenshots that I have made most of my money and gained the most followers in the last four months of 2021. Because I took Medium seriously in September 2021.
So let’s get into the total followers, email subscribers, stories, and earnings.
- I have written a total of 72 stories on my account. And after removing all the stories that I wrote in 2020 and 2022. We are left with 67 stories. So I have written a total of 67 stories in 2021.
- From all these 67 stories, I have gained a total of 269 followers with 6 email subscribers. For a year, it’s not that much. But for four months, it’s enough.
- By adding up all the earning from January 2021 to December 2021, I have made a grand total of $98.34 from 67 stories. That’s almost $100 dollars. I am so glad that I ended up earning almost $100 in a year. But that’s not my goal, I want to earn $100 a month and then a day and then an hour. My goal is to grow on Medium with time.
You have seen all the details like how much I earned, how many followers I gained, how many stories I wrote, etc. But these things are not that easy to achieve. I am not saying that you can’t achieve it, you can achieve more than these, but you have to work really hard in the beginning.
I am still in my beginner stage, but I have some experiences to share with you, who have just started writing on Medium.
