I joined Medium a few years ago. Up until three or four months ago I had less than 100 followers. I started writing more consistently on the platform, publishing daily and my followers skyrocketed to 3,000+ followers.

I earn around $125 to $400 per day.

The days that I write the most, publishing up to 5–6 stories doesn’t necessarily make me the most money but, I do find that regularly publishing throughout the week help keeps my income up.

Why I’m writing for Medium

I’ve been a fan of the platform for a long time.

Before I started writing for Medium, I consumed the content regularly, reading stories authors were publishing almost everyday.

I saw Medium as an opportunity to promote my blog Millennial Nextdoor.

In the beginning, I started cross posting my blog posts on the platform. I started ranking some of my content on Google and I even have one story get a steady 2,000 views every month.

A few months back the transition I was experiencing on News Break prompted me give Medium a true effort.

Before, I was only publishing here and there on no real schedule.

A lot of the News Break writers were becoming more and more disgruntled with the platform, talking about abandoning it altogether and heading back to Medium.

Lots of changes were happening.

While I didn’t share this sentiment, I thought why not give Medium a shot and so I began writing the content that I really wanted to share and it was a refreshing change from the local stories I was creating for News Break.
