200,000+ Views on Medium Last 30 Days

I’m giving away the secret

Photo by Artiom Vallat on Unsplash

I’m so floored that I actually hit over 200,000 views on Medium in the last 30 days! That’s the most views I’ve ever gotten on any writing I’ve done, including the dozens of blogs I’ve built.

In this article, I’m giving away the secret to reaching six figure views on Medium.

Here we go!

The secret to reaching 100K+ views in 30 days on Medium

Medium

The key is to write a lot!

No secret, eh?

I’ve talked about this before.

You put in more work with your writing, you get more results.

Makes sense, right?

In the last 30 days, I wrote every single day.

I didn’t publish daily but I tried to.

Here’s a look at what my daily schedule looks like…

A day in the life of a Medium writer

5:45am — Wake up

This is when I wake up, after hitting snooze at least 2 or 3 times.

I pop up out of bed and run to the kitchen to make breakfast for my son.

6am — Prep for school

At 6am I feed my son breakfast and while he’s eating, I usually spend the 45 minutes afterward doing school prep for him and putting myself together.

School prep is about packing his sack lunch, reviewing and initialing his teacher’s papers, and getting him dressed and off to the bus stop.

For me, I wash my face, brush my teeth and throw on a loungewear outfit (usually leggings or sweats and a hoodie or t-shirt). I work from home in my own business so I usually keep it casual most of the time unless I have a video meeting.

7am — Chillin’

By 7am my son has been picked up by the bus. Then from 7am until 10am or so, it’s all for me.

Sometimes I’ll take a morning nap.

Other times I’ll get a head start on work.

My thing lately has been to get all my work done by noon so I have the rest of the day to myself to do what I want. I’ve only just started experimenting with this.

My schedule is pretty flexible which is such a blessing and one of the perks of being an entrepreneur, so I can pretty much do anything I want with my day.

10am to noon — Work

I work during the morning.

My day usually starts jotting some ideas down for Medium. From 7am to 10am if I’m not napping, I’ll use this time to jot some ideas down as well.

All I do is go to Medium and pop in a rough draft headline for a new story and save it then when I’m ready to write, I’ll head to drafts, pick a headline and start writing the story. Easy.

I do this for at least 2 to 5 headlines daily.

Noon — Lunchtime

My lunch nowadays is about an hour.

I almost always eat lunch at home. It’s something homemade I make in my kitchen like dinner leftovers or a sandwich, salad, or something like that.

1pm to 3pm — Wrap up work

In the afternoon if I haven’t worked in the morning, I’ll wrap up my day which involves working on the social media projects I’m involved in, writing for other publications, chatting with clients, and personal projects.

3pm to end of day — My Time

After 3pm I usually do not work unless I get the writing bug late at night around 9pm or so when the house is quiet and my son is asleep.

I do this schedule almost every day and this includes writing on Medium daily.

I self publish and publish to publications like Better Marketing, Start it Up, Illumination and others.

And, that’s what my day looks like.
