How I’m building a content empire with ebooks
Ebooks! Who knew that these quick reads could earn you boatloads of money. I ventured into ebooks many years ago. I wrote a few books and they did so-so.
I circled back to ebook creation about a year ago and I’ve made an extra $10K+ from it!
I’m pretty proud of myself considering I do pretty much zero real promotion for the books, outside of mentioning them in my Medium stories periodically.
But, I’ve really dropped the ball.
I just read a story from Abena Talks where she talks about one of her friends publishing an ebook a month and earns $50K/month!
Incredible.
But also, I’m doing something really wrong, haha. Especially if I want to make ebooks a full-time income stream.
So, here are my plans for bringing my dream to fruition with ebooks…
Growing my ebook sales with more content
First, I want to add WAY MORE ebooks to my library.
Currently, I have these three ebooks I’m selling:
1. Flipping It
Flipping It is about website flipping. It’s a beginner-friendly read that teaches you how to build and flip starter micro websites from scratch and make money from flipping them.
I’ve had students make $300 from each website they’ve sold, with long-term students who are seriously doing this, making $30K+!
2. How to Start a Faceless TikTok Business
This straightforward title tells you exactly what’s in the book. Learn about faceless TikTok accounts, how to start one, and how to make money from one. I have several of these accounts and they earn me money, every month.
3. Mastering Part Time Content Creation (formerly Part Time Creator Club)
This is about how to become a part-time content creator. This is for people who are interested in content creation on the side. You’ll learn how to build a content creation business on the side.
I have a fourth ebook as well. It’s free and offered to members of my paid Substack. It’s about how to write an ebook super fast.
Writing fast ebooks
I’ve gotten better at creating ebooks. I can write them pretty fast now. My latest one took me a few hours and I was done.
I’ve written ebooks over a weekend before and now, with shortening that time to a few hours, I can see myself producing a few books a month.
But, to start, I think I’ll aim for one new book each month.
Content is only half of it.
The next piece is marketing.
The marketing mix
I’ve got to put some real effort into marketing if I want to create a full-time income stream with this.
Right now, my plans are to:
- Promote books in my Medium stories
- Share books in my emails to my email list
- Plug them on Twitter
I may get into paid ads down the road. I tend to gravitate toward more organic marketing but, I’m always up for experimenting so I might dip my toe into paid advertising later.
So, that’s the plan.
TL;DR
I want to make more money with ebooks.
I hope to turn them into a full-time income stream.
For now, I aim to write one book a month and promote them through Medium, email marketing, and Twitter.
Writing books super fast will help me create a lot of content, at least 8 or 9 new books this year.
If you have similar goals, tell me what your plans are.
What are your goals?
How many books do you have now?
By the way, there’s a shortcut to the content creation part.
Instead of writing the books yourself, however long it takes you, you can save time by outsourcing the writing.
This ebook publishing in a box service writes a 10,000-word ebook for you, including cover. It comes from a creator who has made six figures from e-guides herself!
Curious to hear about your personal journey with ebooks.
Would you start an ebook income stream?
