How I Keep Myself Focused on My Goals
6 techniques I use to accomplish my goals.

Having a goal isn’t enough. What good is a goal if you never achieve it?
If you look at the greats in history, most of them didn’t achieve their dreams with one huge accomplishment. They had to face failure and overcome obstacles before achieving success.
The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t is how they respond when faced with a challenge.
Here are 6 techniques that I use to overcome challenges and accomplish my goals.
Set specific goals
Everyone has different goals, and while some are much more realistic than others, they shouldn’t be left too vague. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, don’t simply say “I want to lose weight.” That is vague, and you will easily give up if you don’t set some attainable steps that will bring you closer to your goal.
If you want to start doing exercise consistently, instead of saying, “I want to lose weight,” be more specific like, “I will exercise consistently for 20 minutes three days a week.” The point is, writing specific goals down for yourself can help you stay on track, making your goals a reality by focusing your energy on achieving them.
And the more specific and clear you can be, the more likely it will be that you’ll succeed.
Have a plan to work on your goals
A solid plan can help you make changes and course-correct if you’re not reaching the success that you want. Having a goal means setting short and long-term goals, along with a clear plan to reach those goals.
Without the plan in place, you’ll be swamped by obstacles. So plan, make it achievable, and let your goals guide you to achieve them. Set an accountability partner In order to motivate yourself and stay focused on your goals. You need someone else to hold you accountable.
What’s better than to be able to share your goals with someone who also shares your goals?
Find someone who shares your goals and has them meet you regularly to keep you on track and keep you in the right mindset.
I’d mention that you shouldn't share your goals with everyone. It’ll seem as if you already accomplished your goals. (Share only that one or two special ones)
Take the time to reflect on your progress
Thinking about your goals and how you can achieve them is what will keep you motivated.
But before you can reflect on your progress, you have to first identify where you’re at, and be honest with yourself.
Look back at your accomplishments and check how far you’ve come. Is it more than you anticipated? Did you overcome a huge obstacle, or make an amazing connection?
Knowing what you’ve accomplished will give you confidence. And when you feel confident, you are more likely to continue moving forward.
Now that you’ve evaluated where you stand, you need to establish a strategy to get to the next step. “What’s next?” You’ve been able to complete the first step of your goal, but now you need to find a plan of action for getting to the next goal.
Work on one goal at a time
When setting a goal, it’s best to work on it one step at a time. For example, you can consider the term “get out of debt” instead of “earn $500.” “Getting out of debt” is more achievable when you focus on making one big step. You’ll be able to see how much further you have to go and can then set another goal for next month to get you closer to your ultimate goal.
When you work on one big goal at a time, you have a lot less energy to devote to the smaller goals. This means you’ll have less to stress about and more time to focus on the big goal you’re trying to achieve. It’s likely that those smaller goals will remain unaccomplished, but you won’t be as disheartened when you look back.
Stay focused and don’t get distracted
One of the biggest mistakes that people make is not staying focused. At first, it may not seem like you’re missing out on anything, but what you could be doing is drifting from one thing to the next and not achieving anything.
In order to be in focus, you need to identify your distractions and kill them.
I encourage you to check this short article to identify the 90/90/1 rule. That will help you eliminate your distractions.
Reward yourself for progress made
It’s really difficult to achieve goals, especially when you’re tired and busy at work, or when you’re with your family.
That's why you need to reward yourself when you get one step closer to achieving a goal. This will help keep you motivated and help you stay focused on your long-term goals.
Your reward must not be a destructive action. For example, I reward myself to have a small workout. Or just having a 20 push-up. Sometimes I reward myself to have a cold shower, making my immune system a solid as stone.
Conclusion
Everyone has goals. But only smart and successful people achieve them because they plan, they write down, they kill the distractions and keeping them in focus.
You need to understand that success takes time, patience, and sacrifice. If you attend parties, having fun all day all night you cant achieve your goals. You need to be ready to say no to easy enjoys and destructive events and invitations.
And remember: To know and not to do is not to know.
