Self-Discipline Without Willpower | 5 Ways to Boost It.

Use this knowledge to start crushing now.

If we ask people what is self-discipline, most of them will answer that it’s willpower. Of course, self-discipline is willpower as well. But it is also a habit that we should create.

In this story, I’m going to share with you my experience, how I boost my self-discipline with the right approach. You’ll discover practical actions and tips that don’t take willpower but knowledge and desire to act.

Let’s start.

Environment

The environment has a huge influence when it comes to self-discipline. If you are in a messy or noisy environment you barely can work productively. A lot of staff around you take energy from you as a result after some time you feel exhausted and get tired quickly. Get rid of things you don’t use, clean your room your house before starting to work. Ventilate your room. Constant fresh air is a plus.

In other words, keep your energy in a positive tone.

Distractions

Distractions are enemies of your self-discipline. Before starting to do work or any important action, you must get rid of distractions. Messages, notifications, calls, people trying to talk with you. These all take you away from your daily goals.

Get rid of distractions to be in focus.

If you do this, you’ll discover that self-discipline isn't something inaccessible. You’ll discover what is productivity and effectiveness, you’ll know what it is to have time for work for talk, for friends, and for joy. You’ll implement your daily goals, thus creating a habit of self-discipline.

Mindset

When you feel exhausted, tired, no energy to work It’s time to stop working for a while. Because without a high mood, and being tired probably you’ll not be able to finish your work. Instead, stop for a while, try to think about your achievements. Remember when you won the championship when you were strong and assertive. When you struggled a lot and eventually got what you wanted. Implementing this trick you’ll shift your mind from a poor exhausted person mind into a warrior mind who is strong, who is ready to struggle, who doesn't stop until achieves the goal.

Before writing this article, I was struggling a lot. I worked 2 hours but couldn't write an article, it was a time when I wanted to stop writing. But as you can see even 2 hours of exhausting work isn't the reason to stop. I hope I bring value to you, writing here.

Take care of your essentials

First of all, before setting goals, before success, it’s important to cover the basics. Before starting any action think about these 3 key basics to be able to start your discipline journey properly. Here is your first opportunity you have to practice self-discipline.

  • Food: Eat not just to be full, but be energized and healthy. Research and discover a healthy diet.
  • Exercise: Physical activity is critical for every area of your life, so make sure to make it a daily habit. If you are physically trained you already made huge steps towards your self-discipline.
  • Sleep: Sleep-deprived people can’t be able to function at optimal levels, both physically and mentally. Be sure to get enough sleep.

Set small goals first

Don’t set the bar too high. This way you’ll overwhelm yourself, instead set small goals and milestones before the big ones. For example, if your ultimate goal is 30 push-ups at once, set an initial goal of 5 push-ups. Be patient and don't get frustrated with the process. Don’t focus on the present but have a long-term vision. Think what you’ll achieve doing push-ups every day, for a month.
