How A $100 Goal Can Work For You!
Goal setting can change your life!
If you play sports, you know that scoring a goal is a great achievement!
For most of my life, I have set goals and most times, I have achieved what I aimed for. Years ago, I worked in a job that was low-paying and depressing. Despite my dire situation, I always aimed to get out of my predicament.
How did I do it? I simply set a goal to find a higher-paying job. At one point, I was eager to land a top-tier telecom job but every time I tried, I failed. But I never gave up and over the years, I kept sending in my applications but it was all to no avail. Finally, I walked into a temporary agency and the rest is history. It wasn’t long before my temporary work led to a full-time position that involved all kinds of amazing bonuses and compensations.
To get this job, I took a look at myself and saw that I needed to learn more things. I went back to night school to upgrade my skills. If necessary, if you need a better job, do what it takes to make more money.
As a relatively new Medium writer, I have set myself personal goals on this site.
My goal for this month is to write 30 articles. Is it doable? If I set my mind to it, I have a good chance of achieving my goal. Last month, I set my goal to increase my earnings, and I managed to make past $100 for the first time since I started on Medium last November!
How should you do it?
- Set Goals
Make your goals realistic. Don't say you wish to make one million dollars in 30 days, which will stop you from believing it. Set a goal of $100 which is reasonable and work diligently to achieve it.
I write down my goals which remind me to keep going until I meet my target.
Writing and seeing your goals will put the pedal to the metal and help you to stay focused and realistic.
In fact, studies show that goal-setting leads to increased productivity and better performance. I used to work for a company that was heavy on sales, and in order to achieve these targets, I always aimed to get a certain number of sales per month. As a result of having a mindset to win, I won a lot of sales contests at work.
2. Set Up A Routine
If your goal is to write a certain amount of articles, aim to set aside a special time to write. Aim for a quiet time that affords you to have the best environment to help you achieve mental clarity.
Fortunately, I have an office that allows me to remove myself from the temptations of watching the latest hockey game, or top-rated action movie.
I also allow myself some entertainment time, and after doing computer work, I go back to rejoining my social activities. It is important to have a proper work-life balance to allow yourself quality time to spend with the family.
Achieving goals can be tricky and one way to increase your chances of meeting your target is to identify the obstacles.
What is stopping you from achieving your goals? Is it a lack of time to write? Is it a lack of motivation? Once you discover the reason for the blockage, work out ways to overcome your obstacles.
