Home Sweet Home

In Ohio for a while

We left Carlsbad, New Mexico on March 23 and went to Oklahoma for a few days. You can read about our visit to Chickasaw National Recreation Area in the following articles.

As we ventured to leave Oklahoma on March 26 we got stranded there for three more days. You can read about that ordeal here.

Made it to Arkansas on the 29th and had another small issue that stopped us for another half day.

We finally got everything fixed and booked it down I-40 through Arkansas and into Tennessee on the 29th and 30th. At Memphis, Tennessee we saw the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid.

Please ignore the bug splatters on the front winshield.

On I-40 crossing the Hernando de Soto Bridge into Tennessee the view of the pyramid is brilliant.

Continuing on I-40 to Nashville we hit I-65 North through Kentucky and into Indiana at Louisville and Jeffersonville. As we drove through Kentucky we saw several military vehicles, police, ambulance, and fire trucks pass us with their lights on in a hurry to get somewhere. Later on the news we heard that two U. S. Army Black Hawk helicopters crashed killing nine soldiers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those nine people.

The weather was gorgeous and sunny for the last two days of the trip home. Storms and high winds are expected by Friday the 31st so we pushed to get home before they hit.

Thursday was a long driving day but well worth it. It has been a long four months without any family nearby. We are glad to be home for the month of April.
