WRITING PROMPT RESPONSE
Holding On
Sketched in a heartbeat

If I wasn’t outdoors running around as a child, I was drawing, painting or doing some other crafting. But those years are long gone, and I can’t remember when I last held a pencil or crayon in my hands in an attempt of creating something.
Dennett decided on challening us this month with a new prompt. Instead of taking pictures on a specific topic or writing a few words about a theme, she asked us to draw something.
Drawing?
Yes, we were asked to pick up the pencil and draw the picture taken by Christine Morris. A photograph of a bird holding onto a tiny blade of grass.
My kind of photography, but is it my kind of drawing?
Deepti Kannapan sketched the bird wonderfully in black and white. I knew I wasn't gonna be that great or find enough motivation to work on it until I was satisfied with the result but decided to give it a go. For Dennett.
I first let my tablet create a drawing from the picture to get an idea of how to approach this crafty challenge. Then I picked up the pencil and began. Without erasing one line, I produced the image below. Not the best but you can identify what I attempted to present. I’d say...

And now it's your turn. Try something new, something challenging, something out of your comfort zone. Pick up a pencil and draw the photograph above or any other picture.
Get inspired by Dennett, Allisonn Church or Janice Gill who all drew already their own versions of the picture. See below:
And here is the prompt from Weeds & Wildflowers for the month of July:
