Here’s Why Medium Will Always Be a Gold Mine for Creators!
Do You See Medium as a Social Media Platform or a Blogging Powerhouse?
Personally, I regard Medium as a platform that allows me to practice and showcase my writing skills. Unlike social media platforms, where anyone can create video content and monetize it, creating written content on Medium requires a certain level of education. This requirement scares the crowd away, like a mouse sighting a cat.
For example, you can create comic video content on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or even YouTube without sounding intelligent, yet people will troop in and follow you for being a clown.
In some cases, you can even go viral and become a celebrity on these platforms without speaking a word. Khabane Lame has over 116 million followers on TikTok, despite never speaking in his videos or showcasing any special intelligence skills.
However, Medium is different. To be taken seriously on this platform, you need to have some level of intellect to create and organize your content.
This is the part many people don’t want to follow. Moreover, many people hate writing, and even those who are intellectually sound may find it challenging to express their thoughts in writing.
So, if you dare to communicate your thoughts through writing on Medium, you will soon reap the rewards.
But What About Publishing AI-generated Content?
Sure, AI can help generate articles, but publishing such content won’t take you far on this platform. To succeed here, you need to deliver value in your content and be consistent. Although you don’t need to sound excellent in your writing, your content must be worth reading; otherwise, you’ll lose credibility.
Is There Hope for New Writers?
I have read stories where creators on this platform argued that Medium could become saturated in the future, but let me remind you that we have fewer writers than the world needs.
As long as humans exist and have needs, people will continue to write stories to address them. So, the issue of ‘Medium’ being saturated doesn’t matter.
In my opinion, TikTok and Instagram are more likely to become saturated with content than Medium, as more people create Faceless video content using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Therefore, as long as there is a reading culture, some people will always prefer to read stories or articles over video and audio content. This makes Medium a hidden treasure for writers who want to showcase their skills.
Can People Give Up Reading?
Yes, people can lose interest in your writing style or story if it no longer caters to their needs. But, that doesn’t stop them from reading. They might move on to other writers who can fulfill their desires.
So, if you are committed to your goals, you don’t need to worry about content saturation on Medium. The more writers we have, the better. You have nothing to worry about as long as the Medium team maintains and runs this platform smoothly.
Earning on Medium
Recent reports suggest that earning a full-time income on Medium can be challenging as the algorithm may only sometimes favor your content. However, that doesn’t mean ‘Medium’ is oversaturated.
You can still make a decent income on this platform as a new writer. So, if you have read and understood this article, then you have what it takes to publish stories on Medium, monetize them, and earn money as long as you live in an eligible country.
