Here’s what I learned after publishing 2 long articles a day for 31 days (no AI)
This article is for you, if you’re: an amateur or struggling writer, or one whose goal is to grow an audience or earn more on Medium
Hello everyone, and thanks for tuning into this short experience-sharing post.
You see, writing regularly teaches you valuable lessons as a writer and trains you to become a better person than who you currently are. Let’s break it down, bit by bit:
Discipline:
As a content writer, discipline is the one characteristic you’ll need to develop to become a successful writer.
Over time, discipline can train you to become a productive and focused writer, and in life, it can teach you how to become a better person as well. You will be a better father, husband, coworker, etc.
Consistency:
Another facet that’s birthed by discipline is consistency.
If you’re disciplined and write regularly without breaking the rythm, then you’re being consistent with your work.
At this point, writing becomes integral to your daily activities, and you cannot go through a day without a dose of it.
Focus:
Consistency teaches you how to remain focused on your writing objectives.
If you've set out to develop your writing skills, gain followers, or earn money with your craft, then you’ll need to keep this objective within your vision parameters.
Focus teaches you the value of time and how it can be spent productively.
Objective:
Being disciplined, consistent, and focused mean that you’ve got a plan of action in mind, consciously or unconsciously, that you want to materialize.
Writing regularly trains your subconscious mind to set up macro-objectives for your biggest goals as a writer, like finishing a book or 30 articles on a subject, and micro-objectives for your smallest goals, say, for instance, writing one or two pages a day or one full chapter a week.
This goal-setting training becomes contagious and visible even in your daily and social life.
You might start noticing this when you start setting up micro goals in your daily life as well.
Habits:
When you start writing regularly, your subconscious begins to notice repetitive actions for which it takes notes and elevates the ladder of importance and priority in your core habits.
Later, your subconscious engraves this new habit into your category #1 of your priorities. Developing writing as a priority #1 habit is the golden step at which writers get to become dedicated to their craft.
And at this point, it’s just a matter of time until you hit your jackpot and become famous, or whatever your goal might be.
Bottom line
It’s important to start somewhere, and you don’t have to write 2 long articles or stories every day. You could start writing just a couple of paragraphs if procrastination is your best friend at this moment and hope to dispel it away with good habits and consistency over time.
My advice to me and to you is to just train your subconscious mind through timely repetition. That way, your mind could take heed of your developing habits and nudge and nag you every time you go through a full day without committing to your daily objective.
