Here Are Some Stories From My Rerun Series
Tonya S. Ware inspired me to revisit and share them.
As I read the story shown below written by Tonya S. Ware, my mind drifted to my past experiences as a school administrator.
This story caused me to travel back in time when the struggles that I experienced with students were troubling, complicated, and genuine.
All the continuous training I received and provided my staff with did nothing to change the climate of the school. Student disruptions and violence consumed my time as a principal. And most of the parents of the students who wreaked havoc in classrooms, on school buses, and everywhere else remained invisible. These mothers and fathers failed to return telephone calls, answer their telephones, provide updated contact information, attend required conferences at school, or answer the door when I would visit with another staff member to solicit their support.
So many factors connected to poor student behavior, poor parenting, and poor levels of parental participation, involvement, and engagement in their child’s education at home and school challenged the school staff. All these things created an unending cycle of struggle and stress for me as the school leader, the counselor, teachers, and all the support staff.
More Reflections
As I continued reflecting on the story from Tonya as I read it, I began to consider all the stories that I published that accentuated the same thoughts that she shared.
Since I have initiated a rerun series to highlight some of my past stories, I would like to share some of my relevant stories.
Thank you for reading these stories from my rerun series.
Here is my golden ticket that helps me accomplish my mission.
