Heirloom Tomato Review-A Series
Amish Paste-#2

Welcome back to my series on heirloom tomatoes. There are so many varieties to try. In my first article I highlighted Matt’s Wild Cherry. Heirloom tomatoes are wildly popular and for good reason. The main one being flavor. And also for the array of size, shape, and color.
If you are a gardener that likes to grow paste tomatoes, for making sauce or canning, Amish Paste is an excellent choice.
This is a huge acorn-shaped paste tomato that originated in Wisconsin in the 1870s. These tomatoes weigh in at 8 to 12 ounces on indeterminate vines, and are slightly sweeter than other paste varieties. They normally ripen in 80 to 85 days from transplant. This is one of my go to varieties that I grow every season.

These tomatoes are widely available to buy in many seed catalogs such as Burpee Seeds and stores. You won’t be disappointed.
