Have You Ever Thought About Writing True Crime Stories?
You don’t need any special skills beyond the ability to write — only a burning passion to speak for the dead

It took me several years after I began my writing career to work up the nerve to attempt penning my first true crime story.
Throughout my life to that point, I had always been in love with the genre, consuming as much of the content as I could find, which thankfully, began to grow exponentially throughout the early 2000s.
Today, true crime content is everywhere, and the total number of true crime stories I’ve authored ranges in the thousands. Countless programs, broadcasts, podcasts, and even entire networks are dedicated to the genre that appeals to such a broad audience from seemingly every conceivable background or socio-economic station in life.
Why? Because, as many have admitted when asked, true crime writing allows writers to channel that visceral emotion we all get from perusing crime scene images or videos into a call for action.
Add to that the stimulating energy that comes from exposing a new mystery, combined with our genetically encoded inherent desire to solve puzzles, to answer the heretofore unanswered questions, and to explain the previously unexplained, and you have a recipe for a very lucrative career as a true crime writer.
Exactly how lucrative?
Besides the fact that, for many of us, being a true crime writer is personally rewarding for a very different reason — it allows us to become vessels who speak for the dead — true crime writing allows writers to tap into the well of true crime content consumers who are not only one of the most immersed and captivated audiences of any genre on record but one that exceeds an estimated 1 billion fans across the globe, each year.
Care to give it a try?
What do you have to lose?

The only question remaining is, what are you waiting for?
