Write for Veritas True Crime
Everything you need to know to become a writer for the newest and hottest publication dedicated to all aspects of the true crime genre
Because my mission as an educator has always been to help as many people succeed as possible, I’ve made the requirements for being a writer for my new Medium pub Veritas True Crime very easy. The only qualification is that you have to want to write and write well.
This doesn't mean that every piece you submit will get published willy-nilly without any editorial feedback or minor edits, but it means if you submit a story that has too many errors for us to publish it ‘as is,’ we will work with you to make it better if you want the guidance.
Now that you know that you don't have to have any predetermined skill set to be added on as a writer here, there are a couple of things that we also offer that very few other Medium publications do.
The distribution of your work across our network
First, the media company that I own — WOMEN (Wild Orchid Media & Educational Network, Inc.) — (my wife’s idea for the acronym) not only owns this pub but also presently owns six very successful podcasts, a globally distributed digital news platform, and numerous corresponding websites that respectively support each of those endeavors and which between them generate over 60,000 visits weekly.
When you agree to publish your work with Veritas, you also get the benefit of publishing it across all of our genre-appropriate platforms and throughout our very large social media footprint. Yes, we share and distribute your articles mercilessly across the digital divide.
Now, to explain, we have not monetized these websites so simultaneously publishing your articles there will have the same effect as sharing them across social media. That is unless the person who clicks on and reads the article also happens to be a paid Medium member, those views will not generate any additional income for you. However, what it will do is generate an awful lot of exposure for you and your work throughout the realm of internet true crime dissemination.
The Veritas 7 — True Crime Podcast and all of its spin-offs
In certain circumstances, we may offer to promote your work even further by extending an invitation to do a guest appearance on one of our podcasts to talk about your work, your writing journey, and often, your life and career.
Of course, this invitation will not be extended to everyone, nor will it be offered to many. But only when we feel that your work is so exceptional as to transcend the genre — that’s when we are likely to offer you the opportunity to talk about your work to our large, global audience, on the air.
If you’re ready
If you’ve decided that Veritas True Crime is the place for you to publish your original, non-AI-influenced true crime stories, then all you have to do is respond in the comment section of this piece with your Medium user ID so that someone on our team can add you promptly.
Of course, we really would appreciate it if you would like and follow the pub, its editors (we don't have that many yet), and the podcast The Veritas 7, but these things aren't necessary.
Please also look for and carefully read our submission guidelines, as they are an important step in making sure the pieces you submit are formatted properly and get published as quickly as possible.
