Summary

The undefined website outlines the guidelines for authors selected for the Dancing Elephants Press Book Project, detailing how to format their author bios and the importance of a consistent format for the book.

Abstract

The Dancing Elephants Press Book Project has announced its participating authors, divided into two groups, and provided them with the first guideline for contributing to the book. Authors are instructed to write a third-person bio that includes their name, profession, personal details, achievements, and social media links, along with a high-resolution headshot. The purpose of this guideline is to maintain a uniform format throughout the book for aesthetic appeal and readability, as well as to streamline the editing process by reducing the need for back-and-forth communication. The provided example bio serves as a template for authors to reference, and they are encouraged to be creative within the 6-8 line limit. The editorial team, including Lady Dr. Gabriella Korosi, Sharing Randomly, and Vidya Sury, extends a warm welcome to the authors and offers support via email for any questions. Additionally, authors are invited to use their bio across various platforms to promote their work and the book.

Opinions

  • The editorial team expresses enthusiasm and a warm welcome to the selected authors, emphasizing their new author status.
  • There is a strong emphasis on the importance of uniformity in the book's format to enhance the reading experience and maintain consistency.
  • The guideline is presented as a means to simplify the process for authors and editors alike, minimizing the need for editorial corrections.
  • Authors are encouraged to be both personal and professional in their bios to engage readers and promote their own platforms.
  • The editorial team values community and support, as evidenced by the invitation to email with questions and the call to action for supporting underprivileged children.

A big warm welcome to all the chosen authors for the Dancing Elephants Press Book Project.

Did I say “AUTHORS”? Yes, I did! Because that’s what you are!

Dancing Elephants Press Book Project First group:

Jennifer Dunne, Gaurav Jain, Bingz Huang, Libby Shively McAvoy, Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar, Trista Signe Ainsworth, Yana Bostongirl, Jo An Fox-Wright Maddox, Tamil, Carmen Micsa

Dancing Elephants Press Book Project Second group:

As you rejoice over being selected for the twin book project and are probably busy sharpening your pencils and refilling your pens to get ready to write for the first prompt that will be announced tomorrow, let me be the voice of reason and release the first guideline.

The goal is to keep the book uniformly formatted so that it not only looks nice but makes it easy for the reader. Also, you’ll not miss out on anything — which means no back and forth messages with the editors nagging you to add this or remove that.

Nice, no?

Okay. Here’s the first guideline.

1. Write your author bio

We’ll need a few lines about yourself with a high-resolution photo of you, preferably a headshot.

How to format your author bio for the book.

Write in the third person, please. - Who you are (name) - What you do (profession) - Add something personal/special about you - An achievement or two (if you’ve published a book, mention that with a link) - Your social media handles and website link, if any.

For example, my bio looks something like this:

Vidya Sury is living her dream as a Writer | Editor | Blogger after more than a decade in the corporate world. With six blogs of her own, she enjoys writing about self-improvement, mindfulness, parenting, travel, health and wellness, diabetes, food, and books.

She loves coffee, photography, kids, and music. On really busy days, her free time is restricted to playing with her dust bunnies and showing her diabetes who’s boss.

Her mission in life is to improve the lives of underprivileged children.

Feel free to be creative — and make it no longer than 6–8 lines.

2. Add your author bio to the posts you submit for the book

This will help others to get to know you. And of course, feel free to use this bio everywhere!

Your biography will go with your posts in the book. We will also use it to promote the book by featuring an author each month on social media.

Have questions? Please feel free to email us and we’ll be happy to respond.

See this post where we announced the participants of the book project along with what you need to do right away: I’d urge you to bookmark it and take action.

Welcome to the Dancing Elephants Press book project again! ❤

With love from your editorial team
