Summary

The author experiences intermittent internet connectivity issues with Google Chrome that are resolved by manually executing a DNS query for google.com.

Abstract

The author of the article describes a peculiar issue with Google Chrome where web pages fail to load upon opening the browser, indicating a lack of internet connectivity. This problem is temporarily resolved when the author runs a DNS query using the dig command for google.com. The article suggests that this behavior may be related to Google Chrome's handling of DNS settings, potentially bypassing system configurations and third-party security services. The author speculates that this could be connected to previous observations about Google Chrome's DNS security bypass and the use of specific DNS settings to enhance security. However, the author expresses a desire not not delve deeper into the issue at this time and invites readers to follow for any updates.

Opinions

  • The author believes that Google Chrome's DNS handling could be causing the internet connectivity issues.
  • There is an implication that Google Chrome might be overriding system DNS settings, which could compromise third-party security measures.
  • The author seems to think that the issue might be related to their previous work on Google Chrome's DNS security bypass and DNS redirection for IoT devices.
  • The author is seeking acknowledgment of the issue from Google, hoping for a fix.
  • Despite the inconvenience, the author does not wish to investigate the problem further at the moment.

I have so many things I want to do an analyze Google chrome behavior and network packets related to it is not one of them.

So I’m just going to put this out there and hopefully someone at Google sees it and fixes it.

Sometimes I open Google and it won’t connect to the Internet. Web pages won’t come up. Things get wonky.

But I’ve noticed that whever I open a terminal window and type:

dig google.com

Then suddenly all the web pages magically start showing up in Google.

I imagine this has something to do with this:

and this:

and maybe this:

But I’m not sure. And I don’t want to spend more time on it at the moment.
