Writing Prompt: Ode to your washing machine.

Good Ol’ Wash Cycle

So many choices to cleanse your whole self are found back in the basics; just push “START.”

Author’s photo of my washing machine.

To my trusted and timely washing machine You see the mess I’ve made each and every day Too worn and torn, tattered and old Is it worth the effort and time

You measure my load and test my temp Responding with care and kind Not too cold or too hot Reprogrammed, so no tempers flare

Events imprinted memories No stains left dark to pain me You gently rinsed the tears Fabrics woven tight in mindful stitching

Just the right fit, warm-hearted and present Be it delicate or most needed on-hand care A selectively chosen piece, happy for a minute or longer Slowing the speed and finding my balance

A lifetime warranty affixed to me Original parts fine-tuned; irreplaceable as time ticks by Loyalty in my personal brand, signature verified Stamped with a Promise to stand by, honest and true

Thank you, Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她), for your writing prompt. Check out her fabulous poem.
