Get Rid Of The Bad Writers
They are earning your money
I am not negative, and if you read my articles, I would suggest that I am 90% positive in everything I write; that is my mindset. I do not save it for my articles. I am very optimistic in life.
I read a lot of articles on Medium about how people have “made it” or how they can show you how to make “lots of money” or how to “gain loads of followers”, etc.
I am sorry to tell you that most of it is pure “bull shit”, and I have found some glaring mistakes. Take this guy, for example, who tells you how he made “3000 followers.” Yet, if you look closely, you can see he has 2.1K following.
I am not sure if he is taking the proverbial, but I have just noticed the publication “New Writers Actually Welcome.” I have checked it out; there are 46 followers…..he runs this publication.

How can this guy be considered a writer on Medium? I don’t want to direct you to him, but honestly, the grammar is appalling. I am dyslexic, and I even find it hard to believe anyone could write this bad.

I reached out to this guy and offered my help, suggesting that I could help him focus on his strengths and that “clickbait” could be the wrong direction to go in, guess what he did?
He reported me to Medium, and guess what? First, Medium gave me a warning, and then he produced the following article. What a great title and subtitle!

He is not alone; however, this is a clear example of what toss people write about on Medium, it is a hoax, a con, and decent people get sucked into reading this type of article.
In the first picture, look at his “step one, write a clickbait article,” I mean fair play; he is not even trying to hide it; the guy has balls, I will give him that.
I urge you to learn quickly from these types of people, who promise you the earth and deliver you nothing but trash.
I know this is not my normal tone; however, I have been asked lots of questions lately about this sort of propaganda and have decided to write about it.
Why do people fail on Medium?
Because they think this is a “get rich quick scheme”, they may have found a YouTube video telling them there are thousands of dollars to be made on Medium (which there is). However, people earning this money are the top 1–2% of established writers.
It is possible to get there, these people did, but it takes time, consistency and quality articles to succeed. As it stands today, I have 2.4K followers and two publications.
Do you know what that means?
Sweet FA!
I am a small fry in a huge pond; what makes me different to most is I will not quit at the first hurdle; my goal is to be a Medium writer for years to come, regardless of my following or earnings.
I am writing for the love of it. I have discovered that writing gives me a release. Therefore, I tend to write personal articles, which helps free my mind.
I write about topics that will help others, genuine help, not this “get rich quick stuff I see plastered everywhere.” An example of my help topics is here.
One of the best writers on Medium, Kristina God, recently wrote an article, “sorry, the fast buck is a lie” have a read of what she had to say below.
With my time on Medium, I would advise you to find your writing niche, build your following organically, and connect with people.
I don’t claim to know all the answers; however, I will stay true to myself, will help, encourage and support the people who ask for it.
Tell me about some of the trash you have seen on Medium, or did you fall for an article that delivered no worthwhile content?
My views are very strong on this, there are plenty of good writers trying to deliver good content on this platform, and I feel for those who make a genuine effort.
The money you should be making from your quality articles is going into the pockets of these people, and it needs to stop.
