Get inspired by this former pop star’s shocking quit alcohol transformation

I love reading stories about how quickly people can completely transform their lives and health when they quit alcohol.

Earlier this month I wrote about a Canadian sportscaster’s side-by-side pictures marking his first two years of sobriety.

As incredible as they were, a 90s UK pop star posted his own pics yesterday of a one-year quit alcohol journey and the results are truly shocking.

The singer is called Kavana, and a year ago the 45-year-old headed to rehab to try and get his life sorted out. And sort it out he did.

I can’t say I know all that much about Kavana or his music.

Across the pond here in Canada when I was a teen in the 90s, it was Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, NSYNC, and the Backstreet Boys dominating the airwaves.

But I’m definitely a fan of his inspiring quit alcohol journey.

Here’s the first photo he posted on Twitter of the day he entered rehab:

And here he is a year later:

Kavana wrote:

“Today I am 1 year sober. On the left, me arriving at rehab in a blackout. On the right, me today. Thanks to those that have helped me get here a day at a time #recovery #grateful #1yearsober

Man, that is some transformation.

One of the reasons I love stories like this so much is that they show just how quickly you can turn your life and health around when you kick the demon sauce.

A new life is closer than you think

When you’re in the depths of alcoholic despair, positive change can seem miles and miles away.

You’re sick, you’re sad, and sobriety looks like an impossible mountain to climb.

But if you can manage to push through the admittedly very tough first couple of weeks, a whole new world opens up to you.

Your sleep will improve. Your energy will improve. Your mood will improve.

And, as people like Kavana show, your appearance will improve (a lot).

On the day I decided to quit alcohol, I took a picture of myself just like that.

Although I’m still not ready to share it (I’m building up my courage lol), I look terrible.

Puffy face and body, puffy eyes, dry, patchy, wrinkly skin, stringy hair.

Depressing.

Now, I feel 10x better about how I look, and my body thanks me every day.

The joint problems that plagued me during my peak drinking phase are done, and my painful, dry skin patches are all gone.

And, again, it doesn’t even take that long.

Yes, to see massive transformations you’ll need a bit more time, but I found that all my withdrawal-related anxiety and moodiness were gone in 2 weeks, and within a few months my appearance can completely changed.

So, if you’re thinking of quitting alcohol, don’t delay.

Every day you say no to booze, you’re one day closer to an awesome transformation like the one above!
