PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
From Icy Snow to the Tropics
Week 69 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
What a week. I’ve gone from freezing in the snow to sweating in humidity. It surely was a week of extremes. Yes, I’ve moved. Again. I’ve flown from one continent to another switching not only time zones but climate zones as well.
The beginning of my week was spent with family and friends and while at the end I was all alone flying across the globe.
Today we drove to my parent’s place to spend the weekend with them. This is a picture of my dad’s pepper plant. He’s having it in the flat now since it's too cold outside. I was impressed at how many peppers were hanging on it.

My husband and I went to town today to buy some electronics needed. Yes, it was black Friday. Yes, we knew it. But Germany isn’t that crazy about it. Yes, you’ll get specials. Yes, people do go shopping. But no, it’s not overcrowded.
This picture was taken coming out of the mall looking down onto the “Schlossplatz”. Yes, it is still overcast in Germany. No, I did not see the sun today.

The next day it was supposed to snow but it was only raining a bit. We had planned a family barbecue in the garden and the weather wouldn’t stop us from doing so. It was cold, like really cold. But we were all dressed well and could enjoy socializing outdoors in the fresh air.

It was time to drive home but not before stopping by at my mom’s friend for a quick surprise visit and hello. It had snowed the night before on the surrounding hills and some slushy snow was still lying in the grass.

The next day I woke up to this back home in the fairytale village. It had snowed overnight and at higher elevations, the snow remained. On the ground and on the treetops. That’s the white you can see on the trees in this picture.

Time to say goodbye. Yes, once again, my husband and I were forced to another farewell. Since he still needs to finish his German language course he can only come just before Christmas. I know, it’s not a long time being apart but in the current situation, nothing is guaranteed.
Thailand just closed its borders to travelers from southern Africa and I’m almost convinced they will be giving him trouble when entering because of his passport.
But let’s stay positive and keep looking forward. I first had to get to Thailand as well. First a train and then two flights. Lots of paperwork was required but when you had it all in order, then flying was actually no more stressful than before.

Sometime during midnight, I landed in Doha, Qatar. I didn’t have a long layover but due to unknown reasons, we still had to wait one hour past our departure time at the gate.
Once I got onto that second flight it was something like 3 am and I fell asleep right away. The flight was packed, but I had my window seat and slept through until breakfast.
This was when I took the picture below as we were coming from the ocean onto mainland Thailand. Loved the cloud formations in the sky. This is my happy place. Above the clouds. In the air.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge in summer 2020 and many have participated ever since.
