For anyone interested in the monetary benefits of joining Friends of Medium, I have an update of my latest stats to share.

Medium is known for breeding STAT Watchers, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t one of them.

So naturally, I’ve been keeping an eye on the money that the new FOM upgrade is earning me.

In a minute, I’ll show you just how much that is for the partial month of January.

But first, allow me to re-emphasize the point that I’m 100% in favor of FOM.

For the non-monetary, AND the monetary benefits.

And for the record — both are possible…

Here’s my viewpoint regarding being a friend of Medium

When it comes to discussing anything that has to do with the Friends of Medium (FOM), I fall into the category of writers who openly admit their motives about trying to increase their earnings.

Most readers who regularly follow my stories, are familiar with my mantra:

“Ain’t no shame to my game.”

And why should it be?

I realize that every writer has their own viewpoint and perspective as to how they feel about the subject.

👉 Whatever you think about FOM, and how you feel you’ve been affected (either for the good or for the bad), that’s your individual choice to feel that way, and to even share your reasons and justification for believing the way you do.

But speaking from my personal experience, and seeing what I’ve been witnessing over the past few weeks since joining — those who tend to speak poorly of FOM, haven’t even allowed themselves the option of joining and giving it a try.

Other naysayers who actually did take the step to go ahead and upgrade to “friend” status, ended up reverting back to the standard Medium account, in a short period of time.

Yep. They headed for the hills, and decided take back their hard earned ten extra dollars, instead of risking it on a chance to earn way more than the ten bucks they were afraid of losing.

But hey — that’s their prerogative…

Then of course, there are lots of non-FOM members who will remain that way, because they stand on their high and lofty principles about what they think the evil upgrade is doing to the community, in terms of causing divisions, and making people more money focused.

LMAO! (For those of you who may have forgotten, that stands for: “Laughing my ass off”)

I got news for you folks, you take yourselves waaaay too serious.

Divisions in the community?

This Medium community, just like this divided world we currently find ourselves in, will always have divisions and some form of contention among members.

That’s just the way of the world. Period.

And as for the affect that FOM is having on the actual writing and reading of stories, written by non-FOM writers — I don’t see if being harmful.

To the contrary. Even all those naysayers who don’t agree with the program, are actually benefiting (whether they admit it or not).

FOM are no less the writers they were, before upgrading — even if they did it for self serving reasons.

Being an online writer nowadays, has no rules, regulations, or any of those staunch, high pollutant ideas about the “proper” way to craft a story, article, or book.

Not only that, but experienced writers, and content creators of every kind, are quite capable of turning out quality content, but at the same time, consciously making an effort to receive monetary compensation for their work.

👉I love writing and I would do it for free, and have. But certainly not when I don’t have to.

And now, apparently, thanks to FOM, I don’t have to.

My earnings are increasing, and in one way or another, I credit Friends of Medium.

Is money my only motive and is that the only benefit? If you read one of my recent stories, you’ll see that it’s not.

But am I glad as hell, that my 1,300+ stories are finally getting more love and appreciation in the process?

What do you think…?

Here are my current stats, midway through January

My current stats are definitely blowing up, and we’re still 2 days away from the midpoint of the month.

Here’s today’s screen shot, which I suspect will look even better, after midnight tonight, when the page is updated.

I won’t bother trying to clue you in on how much I figure I’m averaging on a daily basis, or which stories seem to be earning the most.

The truth is, In my experience, all that type of data is fluid and seems to change in the bat of an eye.

So I merely skim over the story stats, and then head straight to the sweet spot, and check out the total earnings 💰.

Final Thoughts

Has anyone else been experiencing an increase in their stats and earnings, that they definitely attribute to FOM?

Feel free to share your good news, either by indicating stats or amounts, or including a link to a related stats story.

And yes, that goes for those who are FOM, as well as those who are not.

I plan to mention some of these status updates you folks provide, in my upcoming newsletter at the end of the month (so stay tuned for more on this).

👉 Of course, I can thoroughly understand why some writers on Medium resent what they feel members are doing by capitalizing on this controversial decision to upgrade.

Whether standing on principles that are unjustified, or simply making poor assumptions that just aren’t true; you could actually be missing out on earning more money for your stories.

And if you care at all, you’re also missing out on the chance to support other writers.

That is why I urge those who are still on the fence, to reconsider whether or not to join the Friends of Medium.

In the meantime…

As long as my earnings continue rising and I reap all the other related benefits and rewards, people can say whatever they want to about the FOM.

As far as I’m concerned, FOM has a friend in me for life (or until I no longer see a good reason to maintain the friendship).

Thanks for reading…
