PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Flying With the Birds
Week 115 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
I’m sitting here in our trailer and while I’m packing up our things the cranes' calls are overpowering everything. Even my thoughts. I’ll miss them. It was such a wonderful experience to be part of their migration.
I’m already a few days behind on publishing this weekly photo essay. Towards the end of the season, there is always so much happening and so little time left. Everything we want to do just one more time and everyone we want to hang out with just one more time. Who knows when and if we’ll ever meet these awesome people again?
But enough talking. Let’s start with day one.
It was Thursday and we were working in the morning. I haven’t shared any skydiving photos lately so I thought it was time for one again.
The tandem instructor sitting in the door who is about to fall out of the plane is David, my husband. I’m still sitting on the bench stretching my hand for a high five again.
While you can’t see my face on my hand camera view, you can see my passenger and his serious face. For David and me this is routine. Seeing each other jumping out of the plane. It’s part of our relationship.

On Friday evening I was driving to the dentist together with David. I took this picture as I was waiting for him to come out of the appointment. An old town not far from us. The church is hidden behind the trees.

Saturday was a mixture of sunshine and cloudy skies. The sun was shining. But only above the clouds. I got a thumbs up and a happy smile for you.

On my way to the bathroom on Sunday morning I saw the sky exploding and decided to quickly snap a picture. What a spectacular sunrise it was.

The cranes have moved to the fields next to our trailer park. I’ve published an article a day about the spectacle happening around us. Their calls are what we hear from sunrise until sunset.

Yes, there are a lot of cranes. If not thousands then at least hundreds of them feeding in the harvested fields.

Wednesday we had to drive to Berlin for a visa appointment. While David was inside the embassy I stayed outside and captured fall in the city. Yes, there are mushrooms growing in the heart of Berlin.
