Fiery Red Hot Valentine

A prompted poem

to my valentine, who asked for no gifts this year, I send you something intangible — a memory.

to my fiery red hot valentine, remember the time I made you kimchi fried rice, fiery red and a tad too spicy but flavorful and filling for the soul?

you tasted, chewing quietly concentrated.

“It’s good…” you said with a pause that was just a tad too long before springing the punchline “but did you cook the onions? they’re spicier than the kimchi

Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) wants to thank ScienceDuuude for his amazing set of prompts from last week. I tried to put together a poem (prompt 5, wonder?) that’s about me making something (prompt 1, wood) and doing something i.e., cooking (prompt 2, work). It’s a real memory and I guess now I can send him this belated Valentine’s Day love poem so that we can revisit the time I forgot to cook the onions thoroughly. In my defence, he has a glass top stove and I have this powerful coil stove and I’d just mistakenly used the same cooking times for both recipes. Learned my lesson well that day 🤣
