Feminism, Feminism (Youthful Feminism)
Feminism spans all age groups. However a sexist might say, “If it spans all age groups how come all feminists are bitter old women?” thus illustrating why we need feminism.
As part of its centenary celebrations the BBC, national broadcaster of the United Kingdom, has launched ‘BBC Rewind’ across the UK, providing public access to a vast portion of the Corporation’s archive, featuring recordings from its national and regional newsrooms, dating back to the 1950s and beyond.

Anyway, amongst the numerous gems of people from olden times talking about and doing olden times things, is possibly the earliest recorded footage of a schoolgirl feminist. Proof if proof be needed that the phrase “start ’em young” is a real thing.
The 1967 Belfast schoolgirl says, “….I really want to be a spinster….” However what on earth is this spinster thing she talks of?
Luckily for us a very wise person once said, “It is a truth universally acknowledged that everything is shit easy to understand when reduced to multiple choice with no wrong answers.”
The Question: What is a Spinster?
The answers:
(A). An unmarried woman who is older than what is perceived as the prime age range during which women usually marry. Between 16 and 100 probably.
(B). A woman whose occupation is to spin. Like twirling around on the dancefloor and shit.
(C). Her down the road, you know the one. Her that lives at number whatsit.
(D). A woman who chooses not to marry. She does believe in marriage, but just not to him.
(E). A woman, and only a woman, because an unmarried man is the stuff of science fiction innit.
