GLOBETROTTERS WRITING PROMPT

February Monthly Challenge — Terrains of the World

Show us the diversity of landscapes on earth

Deserts, oceans, mountains, rivers, glaciers and many more landscape features are to be found on earth. This variety of terrains is what makes travel interesting. Because everywhere we go, we have something different to see and experience.

In days of climate change, travel has often a negative after-taste but travel doesn’t need to be harming the environment. Travel can be focusing on the environment and its precious beauty.

While we focused last month on destinations we’d like to visit this year, we are going to focus this month on destinations we have been to. But not any destination.

We want to focus on nature. Landscape features. We want to focus on terrains that change behind every other corner.

But what is a terrain you might be wondering?

“Terrain is used to refer to an area of land or a type of land when you are considering its physical features.” — Collins Dictionary

We are focusing on the geographical features of the land. We want to see mountains and flatlands, deserts and wetlands, glaciers and oceans, and whatever else you have to show.

We got inspired to this topic by reading Aarti Tailor’s article on Earth celebration day. And as we don’t think one day is enough to celebrate the beauty of Mother Earth, we are going to dedicate an entire month to this topic.

And as Aarti is saying, we are looking forward to your presentation of the world.

“There are many more terrains I have yet to explore and it is so exhilarating to know that our planet is bursting with so much variety.” — Aarti Tailor

But enough said. Here at Globetrotters, we’re calling out for your stories. Tell us more about the terrains and landscapes you’ve been in.

Be creative.

Pull us in with your compelling narrative.
