What a DDOS attack can do to a great project & how a GREAT ecosystem, Devs, & community go forward…

Farm of Fortune was well on its way to reaching 200 days & beyond. Mischief of Fortune was going great & hasn’t even had to have an injection yet. EOF & COF were at all time highs. The Fortune Miner (TFM) was well on its way. All things were going good in the Fortune Hunters ecosystem. All was at peace…then BAMM!!!

The Fortune Hunter’s ecosystem got hit with nasty DDOS attacks!

Here’s what happened…& how they have responded.

Friday, 3/17/23…

The websites were having problems for a lot of the users.

The Following messages were in the Fortune Hunters Announcement channel (https://t.me/FORTUNE_HUNTERS_ECOSYSTEM_NEWS).

https://t.me/FORTUNE_HUNTERS_ECOSYSTEM_NEWS/226
https://t.me/FORTUNE_HUNTERS_ECOSYSTEM_NEWS/227

The users were instructed, in the main telegram channel, on how to interact with the contracts even though the websites might be down. They were told that their funds were safe several times. It was announced several times for everyone to remain calm & keep going forward.

The team was on the case & working hard to solve these problems.

Saturday, 3/18/23…

The sites were up & down all day long…

They even had an emergency AMA to discuss the problem. You can listen to it here.

You can also read a short summary of events by reading Cryptobes article about it, below.

…Seemed that the websites were still under attack & the team was hard at work trying to fight the problem…

That evening, I was very grateful to have withdrawn & reinvested from the projects as usual.

  • Withdrawn $105.18 & reinvested $34.51 on my FOF#1 account. (I also reinvested $34.51 into my TFM#1 account as well.) This left $36.16 in my wallet from this withdraw. I’m currently at 143.78% ROI in this account.
  • Withdrawn $69.05 & reinvested $34.51 on my FOF#2 account. This left $34.54 in my wallet from this withdraw. I’m currently at 60.71% ROI in this account.

I was able to work with all the projects I was invested with & submit my Weekly Income Report, with no problems.

I was grateful to have been able to work with all the sites like usual. I hadn’t noticed anything unusual at all.

Then I noticed, in their main telegram channel, that several users were withdrawing & not reinvesting. Some actually had to use the Moonarch website in order to interact with the FOF contract. This led to a lot of users not reinvesting part of their withdraws.

  • Reinvesting part of the withdraws is the heart blood of the projects. This keeps the projects up & running while paying the users their earnings. Several versions of this strategy (Pizza strategy, Pasta strategy, Beer strategy, etc.) were constructed in order to help the users understand how it worked. As long as the majority of the users followed these strategies then the project lived on.

I went to sleep, but didn’t sleep very well. (I can only imagine how Craig & the rest of the team wasn’t sleeping.) It was a restless night…

Sunday, 3/19/23…

I woke up to the following message in the Announcement Channel.

https://t.me/FORTUNE_HUNTERS_ECOSYSTEM_NEWS/230

…and then later there was this message…

https://t.me/FORTUNE_HUNTERS_ECOSYSTEM_NEWS/232

They then had another AMA to discuss what had happened & how the ecosystem would go forward, for the time being.

https://t.me/FORTUNE_HUNTERS_ECOSYSTEM_NEWS/233

You can listen to the above AMA by clicking on its link in under the screenshot. If you would like a summary of what was said then you can read the article below.

It seemed that the only project that got axed by the attacks was Farm of Fortune. (It was bad but it could have been a lot worse.)

I was able to bring up & withdraw & reinvest from my MOF#1 account with no problems. I was also able to compound my earnings in TFM#1 & TFM#2 with no problems. The Farm of Fortune website did come up but the contract = 0 BNB. So no withdraws from FOF at this time…

In Summary…

  • So the Team is still very active with the users on their main telegram group. Go check them out & see how the devs & community are still alive and well. This says a lot about the dedication of the team & the trust of the users.
  • Only 1 project died because of the attacks. All the other projects are still alive & well. I was able to interact with 2 of them using 3 different accounts tonight. (Hopefully, the rest of the users will follow the recommended strategies for these projects & not be fearful.)
  • The team has promised that anyone that hasn’t made ROI in FOF will be refunded via airdrops during the coming weeks. If you have a Fortune Hunters NFT then you may already know how the airdrops work. So no worries there…
  • Craig stayed on point & kept the safety of the team first. He didn’t go off the rails playing the blame game, or closing down the telegram channels. (Some devs have done this in the past after rugging or draining of the contract. This team is much better than that.)
  • All the other projects are still active & moving forward.

What now?

Well, time will tell but I think we can still count on the Fortune Hunters team. They will need to be able to count on the community to continue following the suggested strategies & keep the projects healthy.

If you have invested into this ecosystem then have no fear. I still believe in this team & their projects. I have also thought about investing into Elk of Fortune Miner.

Some might think that I’m crazy for continuing to invest in this ecosystem, after these attacks. I still trust this team. The question is:

Can this team trust you?

Craig always says that they build the projects. It’s up to us, the users, to properly use them.

If both sides continue to work together then great things can still happen.

There is still hope for the future of The Fortune Hunters!

Thanks for reading!

Till next time.
