Explosive Dream
Dream notes disguised as a poem

A rare explosive dream I had showing me Heaven and Hell within my mind’s Universe the secret to Everything it was all dreamy and swell
I write this poem instead of dream notes to prevent me from forgetting I know what I need to do now what I have not been getting
The Dream is fading fast though I just woke up but I still feel it in my bones my mind is still on fire
I broke the ABCB rhyme scheme above but frankly I just don’t care the Dream is fading like water pouring down a holed bucket
Overly structured poems can be boring serving to tame poetry’s fire so I will pour down my Dream
stream of consciousness style like excess lust and desire and see what, at the end, remains in the bucket
Write down my excited subconscious before depression numbs it back and the Beauty I saw in my Dream fades like a faint mist in the dark
The Dream is running on fumes now I can now barely remember it and I’ve started to not feel it either it feels like touching the Divine and then, like Icarus, collapsing to Hell
It now only resides in my Heart it has completely left my brain my depression hates losing the spotlight emotional numbness is safer, right?
My heavenly bliss is turning into sadness with plenty of boredom mixed in this was the most explosive dream I had in years and this fizzling poem is a very poor testament to it
If only I could write down everything all the Beauty I saw, touched, sensed and heard
If only…😔
Dream notes in poetic form by Nikolaos Skordilis This far neater and more structured poem shows some of the things I saw in my dream.
It was largely written by the mind though, not the heart:
I also recommend this dream-like poem by Charlotte Kingsbury- Fink:
