Evocative Nuances

Poetry prompt day:-13

Gloom hovered like dark cloudy skies. Generating waves of despondency like turbulent waters. Emotional turmoil drenched the body in a cold sweat. Exhausting the mind and draining energy.

Tears became dry and tear ducts dehydrated. Traumatized feelings were drowning in the deluge of despair. Submerging into the downpour of nothingness. Self-doubt propelled the downward spiral of every rational thought.

Attempt to write about personal stuff brought more desperation. Focusing on details brought more depression. Self-affirmation led to a path of creative destruction. Self-help books brought more dejection.

Dull prose never calmed the chaos. Drought-like conditions necessitated changes. Details were compromised for succinctness. Dramatic expressions were converted into genuine sentiments.

Instead of describing what happened to unburden the mind. The focus shifted to writing about emotional upheavals. Awareness that ideas could just be shared is liberating. The power of communicating through poetry is enchanting.

Not to attack the intellectual sensibilities. Not to create controversies. Just narrating various perspectives with brevity. Just individualizing responses to universal emotions.

A beginning towards self-discovery. A beginning towards self-healing. No designation is required. No curation is sought.

These poems might not be worthy of accolades. The poetic forms have yet to be perfected. The purpose is to compose pieces that flow rhythmically. Not to change the minds but to tug some heartstrings for a moment.

Sincere thanks to Sahil Patel for another thought-provoking prompt. I get so inspired by the daily prompts and I’m going to miss them terribly 😊😊.

Here’s Sahil Patel own interpretation of the prompt: What we write poetry?

I’ve attempted to write about my relationship with poetry and how it has somehow rescued me from a deep-sea of isolation. I’m so honoured to be associated with everyone here. Looking forward to the amazing poets who have joined the challenge and producing exquisite pieces: Josh Balerite Acol, Bhavna Narula, Dr. Preeti Singh, Mia Verita, Melanie J., and Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她).
