What poetry means to me?

It all started when anxiety and depression,

Became my friends.

It all started when I have no one to talk and understand my words.

It all started when words and emotions became my besties.

It all started when I choose me, over others.

It was magic, when poetry found me.

I felt complete when I first rhyme my poetry.

Still, I have dream to go on that stage,

And speak my words until my last breath.

When I recite my poetry,

It’s like my heart finds a voice to convey his secrets.

To me poetry is an ocean filled with words,

Every day I take deep dig inside an ocean,

To choose some of the words to rhyme my poetry.

To me poetry is my lost friend,

Whom I met after so long.

To me poetry is filled within me,

To make me alive.

To me poetry is the way to escape from this world,

To enter in the fantasy world which I dreamt about.

To me poetry is my world,

Where I breathe, feel and live.

To me poetry is the best thing that can ever happened to me.

I would love to say thank you to all of my poet friends who read and write such an amazing piece of poetry!

It means a lot to me. Now, when we are in the middle of poetry challenge. We have all written about so many different things of life. We have started this challenge by writing on “HOPE”, the most important thing of life.

So, I thought why not to write about the most important topic which is a poetry itself. The most important question is why we write poetry?

What poetry means to me? Every poet should ask this question to him/herself. So,today is the day to write something on poetry.
