This Is Why We All Have To Give More

Leo woke up early like usual and made his extra strong coffee.

He was inspired by what he learned on his day off and wanted to continue learning, unfortunately, he had to go to work.

Leo hates his job, it’s menial work and doesn’t interest him in any way. He just goes to pay the bills.

Today he was even less motivated, he was so happy and content yesterday, the thought of going back to the confines of work pained his soul more than usual.

Then a thought popped up that was very common.

What if I don’t go to work today?

He thinks about this a lot, even fantasies about having a day off then goes to work. It wouldn’t be so bad if he liked his job or wanted to be there. But the work was repetitive and boring to him.

He had no problem working if he felt there was a point to it. That was the problem, he was spending his life doing what someone else said.

His life was not his own.

Leo pushed back against this thought, I’m not someone puppet or slave, I’m Leo.

Leo wanted to feel like what he does with his life has meaning. His desire to quit grew as he thought about how much money he had saved.

While the dreams and adventures raced through his head his eyes caught the notebook he was using yesterday.

He had started a notebook full of quotes and his thoughts about those quotes, as a way to enlighten himself. There was one quote that stood out.

“Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life is built upon the labors of my fellow man… and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received.” Albert Einstein

Leo realized he has to go to work.

Not only to pay the bills but also because he has to give back to the world. After recently finding out how weak and helpless he is, Leo has a new respect for other people.

He realizes he can’t survive without help from others. For him to sit back and take, while providing nothing, makes him a loser and a leech on society.

This caused another breakthrough. If giving back is the key to feeling good, the more you give the better you feel. Leo has spent so much of his life just taking, always worried he didn’t have enough, always wanting to save himself some.

This small selfish thinking was why he was so sad and broke.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. The more value Leo provides, the more he gets back. If he wants more out of life, he needs to do more with his life.

For Leo to feel better and enjoy his life he needed to connect with people and also provide value.

Leo has a lot on his heart and mind, and he wants to share it with the world.

This is the fourth story in the series, here are the other parts if you want to get caught up.
