Erotic and Fun Ways to Use Ice During Sex

Let’s Ice Play!

This Summer, here in England, we had two heatwaves. I love the hot weather, but let’s be honest: it’s not the best time to have sex.

The heat of my man’s body on me usually drives me crazy, but not when I’m craving a bit of freshness! And even if we avoid sex positions that come with lots of skin-to-skin, like missionary, it’s still hard to keep the arousal when it’s ~40 C degrees in the bedroom.

Luckily, there are ways to enjoy sex during a heatwave. The more obvious one is to cool down the place, with air-con or a fan (or two) at full power.

Then we have sexy options. In my piece How to have cooling hot-weather sex, I give you several suggestions. Today, I’m going to focus only on Ice Play.

Ice play

I don’t cope well with the cold, my body hates it. But when it comes to ice play during Summer, I’m all for it.

Ice play has several advantages. Besides cooling the temperature off (so needed during a heatwave), ice play is sexy and fun, especially if you target the erogenous zones for sensual, tingling sensations.

How to Ice Play

Your imagination is your limit, in any matter. In sex, as long as your partner is ok with your suggestions, make the best of it!

Ice is a super versatile, easy way to spice your sex life. Here are 7 ways you can use ice in sex plays:

1. Iced Kisses

Suck or chew some ice chips and give a passionate kiss to your partner. This will cool them off but, as well, make their (sexual) temperature go up, up, up!

You can also put an ice cube in the mouth and share it back and forth while kissing. The cube should be small, otherwise it will be harder to manoeuvre it.

Another way to put iced kisses into action is to put an ice cube in your mouth and trace your partner’s body with it. It’s a great way to explore their body, teasing their sweet spots while cooling them off.

The more sensitive the zone you ice kiss, the more impact the ice will have. Be prepared to cause lots of pleasure shivering.

2. Dripping ice

Another way to ice play is to put an ice cube in your mouth or in your hands and let the melting drips fall on your partner’s erogenous zones.

In ice play, like in any other play, it’s very important to be alert to body language. Your partner might love to feel the ice drops fall on their thighs, for example, but hates to feel it in their armpits. Communication is key.

Personally, I love to feel ice dripping over my nipples (especially when Mr P licks it after) and in my naval. The drops then find their way down, and I make him clean everything dry. Delicious!

3. Icy oral sex

I love this option, both as a giver and as a receiver.

I put an ice chip in my mouth and go down on Mr P. The sensation, for him, is chilling and borderline, as we all know that ice and erections don’t match that well. But the ice melts quickly, so we go from icy to hot soon after I started the blowjob.

Mr P also loves to go down on me with ice in his mouth. It sends shivers down my spine; it’s so sexy and iced!

4. Iced rimming

If you and your partner are fans of rimming, experiment with ice play in the anus; it’s so amazing.

When I started to rimm Mr P, I read a lot about it, to make sure I was doing everything right and safely. As I couldn’t find anything against inserting chips of ice up the ass, that’s one way I ice play while rimming. The ice melts almost immediately, so I can’t see how it would be harmful.

If you and your partner enjoy anal play, try ice play in the area. Chilling!

5. Chilled handjob

Put an ice cube in your hand and give a handjob to your partner. Mixed it with warm temperatures, like manipulating their genitals with your other hand or your mouth.

This intermittent sensation of cold and warmth will drive them crazy.

6. Nipple Ice Play

This is one of my favourite ways of ice playing when I’m on the receiving end.

Mr P puts ice in his mouth and lets the drops fall on my nipples. Then he blows it, licks and sucks each and every drop. This drives me insane!

I also do it to him, but he prefers ice play in his balls and in the back.

7. Icing other erogenous zones

Our body has thousands of nerve endings, which means you have, potentially, dozens of erogenous areas that can be, each one of them, explored in many ways.

Explore your partner’s erogenous areas, let the drops of ice fall in a different part of their body and see how they react. If you read pleasure, keep going!

Other ways to explore cold temperature play

Ice is not the only way to explore the icy temperature play. Here are a few more ideas to enjoy your sexuality at its full potential, even during a heatwave.

Cool down the lube

Leave your lube bottle in the fridge for an hour before use, or dunk it in a container filled with ice. You can also put it in the freezer, but make sure you don’t forget about it, otherwise, you’ll have solid lube. You won’t be able to squeeze it out.

Use cold drinks and/or food

Instead of ice cubes, you can use cold or frozen food, like sexy strawberries or ice cream. The latter is a favourite of mine. I make trails of ice cream on Mr P’s body and then, slowly, I lick it all.

This can be done in every part of the body, apart from sugary foods in the genitals, as it can cause yeast infections.

Side note: I can’t write on this topic and not mention one of the sexiest movie scenes ever: the fridge scene in the 9½ Weeks movie. Mickey Rourke and Kim ruled!

Chill your sex toys

Before sex, stick your sex toys in the freezer or chill them in the fridge. Alternatively, you can dip them in a glass of ice water to absorb the cold temperature.

When I do this, I always put the sex toys in a ziplock, as a matter of hygiene.

Glass or stainless sex toys are perfect for temperature play as they hold the temperature very well.

You can cool off lots of sex toys. I do it with dildos, butt plugs, nipple clamps and even pinwheels. It’s so freaking sexy!

Before you use the chilled sex toys on your partner, make sure to break the temperature beforehand. If they’re completely frozen, they might hurt them.

Pick and mix

If you want to give a boost to the erotic game, mix the ice play with other sensual plays.

Sensory deprivation

Blindfold your partner. This way they won’t know where the ice cube or the freezing toy will touch them; the unknown and the expectation are so arousing!

Bondage

Enhance the sensory experience by restraining your partner. I use handcuffs, but you can use a scarf or a tie (on the wrist or on the ankles as well).

Being restrained will make the whole experience more daring and exciting.

Cautions:

Ice play seems harmless, but it’s important to take some precautions.

  • Chose a safe word to stop the play at any time;
  • Never hold the ice cube for too long in the same place, it can be painful;
  • If the receiver has sensitive skin or reacts to extreme cold, put the ice cube in a sock or wrap it in a cloth. The temperature will still be cool but not freezing;
  • Alternatively to ice, you can use cold water, so the temperature is not so cold;
  • Putting the ice directly from the freezer in the vulva without it being lubricated can hurt, as the ice can get stuck in the dry skin.

Temperature is one of my favourite plays — ice and wax play. In summertime, I always choose ice, to cool off. Mr P and I like to explore all the options I wrote about in this post.

I hope you enjoyed the reading and you’re tempted to try ice play!
