Enjoying the Fall Colors in Rural NY State
The Road Less Travelled-Volume 36-Another Great Fall Mountain Bike Ride

Welcome back. October is coming to a close quickly. Over the last few days, the temperatures have been way above normal (70s) which has made it easier for outside tasks. This weekend reality will begin to set in; by Sunday the high temperature will be about 45. Last week I went for a nice 14-mile bike ride to one of my familiar locations, the McDonough State Forest surrounding Bowman Lake State Park.

I visited this area a month ago when the trees were just starting to turn. My wife and I then went on a trip to Perce, Quebec, to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. When we got back to NY State on October 7th, the leaves were past peak. While we were gone, the temperature in NY was in the 80s all week, which must have accelerated the turning of the leaves.
I hope you enjoyed my articles from our trip to Quebec. I wrote 7 articles while on the trip and several more when we got home. Perce, Quebec is a beautiful area; the following is one of the articles I wrote:
A Cool Crisp Day
Thursday, October 19th was a cool but sunny day with temperatures in the 50s. The breeze was cool but the sun was warm enough to make it enjoyable. Even though the leaves were past prime, I was able to find a few hidden gems.
End of Story Extra-Volume 6
This is a new feature in my articles. I will post an added bonus at the end of the article, separate from my usual 3 story links. It could be a photo, an extra paragraph, or something else. Stay tuned and keep reading.

I didn’t plan on riding 14 miles. Sometimes you just feel like riding further as I did this day. The scenery was nice and made the ride enjoyable.

An extra photo from my bike ride. What do you see?

I hope you enjoyed the photos. Until next time.
