Ricky Martin Can Spend 15 Years in Jail as He Faces New Sexual Assault Allegations

Oops, this time it can really get ugly.

With the death of the beloved Queen Elizabeth II, will there be anyone from the royal family to protect Prince Andrew?

The Duke of York has settled the sex assault case filed against him by Virginia Giuffre for an undisclosed sum.

His association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein had opened allegations of sexual abuse and sexual assault. And while the case filed by his alleged victim Virginia Giuffre never reached trial, in the court of public opinion Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, was ‘guilty as charged.’

While many say she was the Queen’s favorite, the Queen had to protect the monarchy, the institution, and the crown — Prince Andrew lost his ‘HRH’ the same way Harry and Meghan lost theirs when they stepped back from being working royals.

Ricky Martin to jail?

Celebrity scandals are a dime, a dozen. One day you’re as harmless as Cliff Huxtable, and the next day you are the Bill Cosby found guilty of sexual assault. Although it was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, again in the court of public opinion, Bill Cosby was ‘guilty as charged.’

In 1992, the Queen had called it her ‘annus horribilis’, or horrible year.

And Latin pop superstar Ricky Martin can very well borrow it from the Queen, as 2022 is turning out not to be a very good year for the Puerto Rican singer as he faced allegations of incest and domestic abuse to which he could have ended up in jail for the rest of his life.

For a time, Ricky Martin was silent, and Twitter where I first read the news was burning with tweets either in support of the embattled singer or condemning the singer for his alleged incestuous relationship with his nephew.

Yes, his own nephew filed a restraining order against the singer.

Before the revelation, the identity of the accuser was sealed in compliance with Puerto Rican Law 54 otherwise known as the — “Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act.”

It was later revealed that the petitioner and the one who is accusing Ricky Martin of domestic violence is no other than his nephew who goes by the name Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, it was confirmed by Ricky Martin’s brother, Eric Martin.

It has all the makings of celebrity scandal — incest, domestic abuse, and sex.

And it would have been a scandal that not only could have cost Ricky Martin his career, his family, and his freedom.

It would have gotten the same amount of media coverage as the Johnny Depp Amber Heard defamation trial, where nothing was left to the imagination of anyone thirsty to hear all the sordid details of what happened inside the bedroom of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

On July 21, 2022, as Ricky Martin was preparing to attend a preliminary hearing via Zoom, the news came out that his accuser, his nephew Dennis Yadiel Sanchez dropped the harassment case, and the judge decided to lift the restraining order against him.

Case closed.

And when you think it is over, that Ricky Martin has proven the scandal was nothing but a false accusation here comes news that the singer is again being sued by his nephew for sexual assault.

The timing of the allegations of sexual assault against the singer is suspect considering that Ricky Martin a few days prior has filed a $30 million extortion suit against his nephew for defamation and loss of income.

Ricky Martin’s incest scandal takes a surprising turn. And if the case does go to trial, details of the alleged sexual assault will become public.

In Puerto Rico, sexual assault cases are considered severe second-degree felonies,

It entails a penalty of imprisonment for a fixed term in calendar years of not less than fifteen (15) years and one (1) day, nor more than twenty-five (25) years. In such case, the person may be considered for parole by the Parole Board after having served eighty percent (80%) of the term of imprisonment imposed.

Final words

Truth prevails. All accusations of sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and rape must be taken seriously.

It takes a lot from a victim to come forward. We have seen it happen so many times, and sexual predators like Jeffrey Epstein can go unnoticed or even get a second chance and even count people like Prince Andrew and Bill Gates as among their personal friends.

Now that a new case against Ricky Martin has been filed it is up to the court to decide his guilt or innocence.

And while what remains to be seen is what the court of public opinion has to say about him, will he be seen as a victim of false accusation or ‘guilty as charged?’
